How lovely - hope you enjoyed itA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Spiced plum chutney made - I always forget how long it takes to make chutney...
More crab apples from the garden picked, cooked and dripping through a jelly bag
4 mile walk this morning + foraging for apples, wild plums, elderberries and sloes but no blackberries  (luckily I still have some in the freezer) - I'll make hedgerow jelly later in the week
Found a walnut tree  and 8 walnuts :rotfl:

I was just eyeing up my mountains of Bramleys
and contemplating spiced apple and pear chutney later in the week - definitely something to do once the children are back at school because of the time (and they hate the smell!)
We've been picking blackberries here since mid July (I know I picked my first handful before schools had broken up!) I'm trying not to pick too many as I'm trying to run the freezer down. I've also picked wild plums (made into jam mixed with plums from my mum's garden) and elderberries. Our sloes are nowhere near ready, though
There is a walnut tree right outside my youngest's school - I don't think anyone else has realised what it is - either that or they wouldn't be seen dead foraging! (on the edge of a slightly snooty area!) - last year I had the grand sum of 4 walnuts from it - 2 the year before!
Brilliant weight loss!

8 walnuts is obviously a good haul then! I didn't get many sloes - there were only a couple of trees with ripe fruit - lots more to pick in coming weeks :T
I'm home alone (Mr MWC left for the airport at 04:30 ) so my plans for a wet BH Monday are:
- [STRIKE]Go clothes shopping[/STRIKE] Shop online!
- Finish apple jelly
- Strain sloe gin made earlier in the year with frozen sloes
- Pamper myself
- Shuffle money and overpay the mortgage
- Update CP with recent purchases (£10 already claimed this morning)Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000

I've found another set of sloe trees
after the previous lot were torn down for new building
and I've got some apples to stew today. I'm still not quite in a space where I can make products to be preserved, but I will be next year, and I'm looking forward to it.
