    Thanks both :)
I still feel bleurgh, like I'm coming down with something but I haven't got the full-blown symptoms yet :(

Miss B and Miss H laid today

I had a Waitrose delivery this afternoon - free blush oranges and 2kg of demerara sugar for £2.70 instead of £5.00 (I'm a bit :o as I gave the delivery driver an earful about the stupidity of substituting 2 x 1kg bags of sugar with 2 x 500g bags of sugar instead of 4 x 500g bags... when I unpacked the shopping there were 4 bags, oops). The demerara sugar will be used to make whisky marmalade later this month :D

I also splurged and spent £12.50 + £2.50 tip on having my car cleaned inside and out - it looks like new again :D

Briefly discussed finances with Mr MWC and transferred

£1150 OP to further advance :D
    £250 to regular saver
£100 to holiday account (hopefully Mr MWC will have a few £££s spare in his account at the end of February that we can transfer as well)

Mr MWC is also planning to sell some shares this month

We received our electricity bill today. Now, I don't know if we are paying over the odds or not (standing charge = 17.1p/day, unit rate = 11.2p) but 85.2% of our energy comes from hydro, 8.2% from wind and 6.6% from solar :T:T:T

Pasta with pesto, feta, onion and beetroot for dinner

  • Good morning

I have tackled the understairs cupboard of doom this morning (only because the helium cylinder was at the back in the far corner) and found a can of lock de-icer that would have been really useful a couple of weeks ago when our neighbour couldn't get in her car... :rotfl:

There was enough helium left to inflate the 100th birthday foil balloon for tomorrow :T I have a few latex balloons to inflate just before we leave but I'm not so bothered if I run out of helium for those

    Other things to do today:

    - Laundry
    - Tidy garden as the sun is shining
    - Menu plan for February
    - Make list of things needed for 100th birthday party - must remember camera with charged battery - and wrap presents
    - Task Mr MWC with 1) finding the US sat nav for my brother 2) retrieving the champagne glasses from the loft 3) buying a hook so that my great aunt can hang a frame

  • I've spent 1.5 hours pottering in the garden with The Girls this afternoon - they were very chatty and the garden is looking quite a bit tidier. A lot of the mess is as a result of their unsupervised free-ranging, so I've locked them in their run and I'm going to limit the time they spend in my part of the garden now that things are starting to grow. Feeling guilty already :(

The US sat nav has been found... by me in a drawer that Mr MWC had boy-looked in last weekend :rotfl:

Champagne glasses are down from the loft and washed, presents wrapped, card written, camera found, battery charged, fizz chilling, crockery, napkins, candles and matches packed. Just need to do the balloons tomorrow morning and then collect the food/birthday cake en route :D

Mr MWC has gone to watch the rugby with his dad and will buy a hook on his way home

  • My garden is certainly looking a lot healthier since the girls left for their new home. They loved free ranging so much that I couldn't deny them. However, the garden did suffer as a result and I resorted to fencing off my herb garden and the borders. I miss seeing them jumping for flies but I might have a bigger vegetable harvest this year!

I'm a soft touch too :rotfl:

Their part of the garden consists of a 12' x 9' covered walk-in run and an area at least 3 times that size fenced off at the bottom of the garden where they can dig to their hearts content... they just prefer digging bark chips and gravel onto the lawn... I don't know why I feel guilty!

Miss H, aka Miss Broody Knickers, is showing signs of broodiness (picking up "nesting materials" and throwing them on her back) already

  • I've menu-planned for February however Mr MWC thinks we should only plan for a week at a time :wall: so I've left a few "blank days" in the last 2 weeks of the month ;)

    Today was a NSD

Sausage, kale & barley stew for dinner

Enjoy the 100th birthday tea party today:D

    MND - Let's go for 2020 'cos it's got a nice ring to it:D

  • I've had a lovely afternoon - even if my great-aunt did tell me off for providing all the food for her birthday tea... next time I have to let her do it!!! I also got in trouble for walking down the road with a bunch of happy 100th birthday balloons - she's told everyone that she's 45 :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Unfortunately, her birthday message from The Queen wasn't delivered yesterday as I had arranged :(:(:( fingers crossed it arrives tomorrow (her actual birthday) as one of the presents was a special frame to display it in :)

There was a little miscommunication when I went to Waitrose to collect the sandwiches and cake... resulting in me getting a little stressed when told that I couldn't collect my order without the order confirmation even though I had the order number and the credit card I had used to pay for the order... it got sorted after a few minutes when the girl realised that it was an entertaining order rather than a click & collect order. She felt so bad that I was given a bottle of champagne as a goodwill gesture - thank you Waitrose :T:T:T
