Making chicken feed of my mortgage

  • I don't want to see another pear... until this time next year :rotfl:

101 (yes, I was counting!) pears quartered, peeled and cored

The pickling syrup tastes lush (white wine vinegar, sugar, orange (zest and juice), cinnamon sticks, peppercorns, allspice berries, cloves and root ginger). I didn't poach the pears as they were perfectly ripe so I hope it turns out OK *fingers crossed*

Second batch of spicy pear pickle still cooking...

  • OK so I'm not SuperTilly and maybe my list was a little ambitious...
So much to do and so little energy... hopefully I'll have a bit more get up and go after a second cup of tea!

    Plan for the weekend:
    - finish spiced crab apple jelly - done
    - make 2 batches of spicy pear pickle (each one takes about 5 hours to cook ) - done
    - find some more jars for Mr MWC - he wants to make piccalilli this weekend - done - too runny again but he won't be told...
    - 5 loads of laundry - done - 6!
    - walk into town/shopping - done
    - general tidy up in the garden - not done
    - paint the front garden fence - not done
    - a ramble - not done
    - housework - not done
    - power wash the chicken coop - not done but I have cleaned them out

    Eggs IN 4
Eggs OUT 1 little one to bind our burgers

Tofu & beetroot burgers and potato wedges for dinner - should be ready soon :)
Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000
    Mortgage-free: January 2021

I didn't go to Sainsbugs in the end and am sticking to my meal plan. Will be interested to read how your burgers turn out - I have a tofu stir fry on my plan and was disappointed when I found the tofu was in stock. Yup, can't wait for that one :rotfl:. I'll check the recipe and see if it gets marinaded - if not I'll invent one as it will need something to perk it up _pale_.

  • Pay day :j

Tomorrow is big mortgage news day...

Went out for dinner last night with colleagues (on the company CC :T) but had to pay £4.80 for parking... £4.80

    Eggs OUT 6 (3 regular + 3 small sold for £1)

I haven't made any new month resolutions for quite a while :naughty:
So for Q4 I will be sticking to my newly set budget, keeping a spending diary and aiming for 15 NSDs/month :)

We had the Peruvian chicken & coriander soup for dinner tonight - delicious :T
The recipe is from Tori Haschka's Cut The Carbs cookbook. I can't find the recipe online but there is a photo here

  • Morning, that is a lovely to start to the day - five figures:j:j:j

I don't know where you get your energy from, and I'm feeling quite envious of your chutneys. I am going to see if I can find my chutney mojo by the weekend. As DH will be decorating the other room, I could be in the kitchen creating goodies. I may have to ask for tried and tested recipes :)

Have a good day, Tilly x
