    Good morning

I've just made my final OP of 2012 - £746.57 - which means that I will start 2013 with a total mortgage debt of £164,999.99 :D

    ETA: A total of £8,697 OP'd this year :j:T

That's great - well done :j, love the end balance :D.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

    Thanks GG

I've counted the contents of Mr MWC's secret loose change moneybox (secret in that he doesn't know about it!) = £13.71 - not bad for 3 months :)

I have no energy but lots of things to do... so a list is required:

    [STRIKE]Shower/dress[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Clean chicken coop before it starts to rain[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Make tablet for Mr MWC's relatives - slowly melting the sugar about to start
    boiling it for 20 minutes[/STRIKE]
    Make last batch of cookies
Finish last 2 hampers (fabric jar toppers, labels etc)
    Shine sink
Find homes for all the stuff on the dining room table
    Dust
    Hoover
    Clean bathroom
Make carrot & butterbean soup for dinner (hoping that if we eat before we go out this evening we'll eat less party food)
    [STRIKE]Laundry[/STRIKE]
Phone friend and wish him a happy 50th birthday
Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000
    Mortgage-free: January 2021
Retired: June 2022 (186 months early!)

Have made a dent in the list but not started any of the entries related to housework...must get a move on Mr MWC will be home from work at 4!

Happy New Year MWC. I have enjoyed reading your diary and am looking forward to further updates.

  • Thanks tjp - Happy New Year to you too

I've spent the morning doing one of my favourite things... online banking and shuffling money between accounts :D

    £575 OP to further advance
    £250 to regular saver a/c
    £250 to holiday savings a/c

I'm working on Mr MWC to match the £250 to the holiday a/c as we are off to Mexico in March and I don't want to dip into other savings accounts to pay for it :)

Happy New Year to all MFWs

    MWC

PS Didn't finish all my jobs yesterday but I did wake up to a lovely shiny sink this morning :D

  • Mortgage update:

1 January 2013 (before regular monthly payments and January OP)

    Original mortgage (interest only)
    2.50% BMR
    Daily interest = £6.08
    Redemption date = April 2028
    £88,782.56

    Further advance (repayment)
    2.50% BMR
    Daily interest = £5.22
    Redemption date = November 2025
    £76,217.40

Total = £164,999.96 (my sums were slightly off as I paid 3p less interest today!)

Both mortgages were due to finish April 2028 so we're really chuffed that the current redemption date for the FA is November 2025  and today's OP has already knocked off another month :D

  • And here are my goals for 2013:

    • Financial
    1. Spend mindfully in 2013

Do I want it? Do I need it? Will I use it?

Write a shopping list and stick to it

    2. Over-pay the mortgage by £1875 per quarter
    • Personal
    1. Health and well-being

Lose the weight I gained in 2011 (yes, 2011! I’m only 3lbs heavier than I was on 1 January 2012 but that doesn’t tell the whole story… I had lost 19 pounds before I hurt my ankle in March and then a combination of lack of exercise (I couldn’t get a shoe on for 2 weeks let alone walk), more snacking and then portion sizes increasing gradually throughout the year meant I gained it all back :()

    Exercise

    Drink more water

    2. Meet new people and spend more time with friends & family

    Join WI
Host at least 1 "event" per quarter

    3. Improve knowledge

Current affairs, learn a new craft

    4. Career

Update CV and Linked-In and look for a new job
    • Material
    1. House

    Paint spare bedroom and furnish
    Paint hall/stairs/landing
    Paint exterior window frames
    Carpet stairs, landing and bedrooms

    Shine my sink daily!

    2. Garden

    Replace roof on chicken run
    Grow more edible plants
Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000
    Mortgage-free: January 2021
Retired: June 2022 (186 months early!)
  • We went for a walk this afternoon and popped into the supermarket to buy 4 pints of milk. Resisted the urge to buy something else so that I could use my nectar points to pay and Mr MWC had a £1 in his pocket so he paid :T

I've made mulled plums and blueberries (waitrose recipe) using some of the cheap plums I bought on Sunday, some of the bargain blueberries in the freezer from ages ago and a sorry-looking orange from the fruit bowl

Sausage and squash toad in the hole for dinner - smells fantastic, it'll be ready soon

2 eggs today - I might have enough to sell this week :D
