  • Oh dear, I'm no longer favourite aunt... I trounced her at UNO and made her cry :rotfl:

Your suggestions were just too late Cal - she picked mixed nigiri (ate the rice, left the fish), cucumber maki (ate the cucumber, left the rice) and a tilapia YO! burger (ate the nori crackers, left the burger and daikon slaw) *rolls eyes* An expensive mistake - I thought she would be more adventurous...

I had a delicious tofu YO! burger (tofu katsu resting on a bed of lettuce and coriander pesto, topped with a slice of avocado and cress) served with edamame and daikon slaw, and I shared tuna & avruga sashimi and duck gyoza with Mr MWC

He and Mr T loved the sushi class they went to for DS birthday - I'm sure she will love and remember the fact that you took her though :):)

I'd love you as an aunt but can we go to Wagamama instead :D?

  • Hi SSS

We don't have children ourselves and we are considerably better off than her parents... I always thought it would be a nice idea to save some money that she can spend when she's 18 on driving lessons/travelling the world/university. Nobody else knows we're doing it (although I suspect that SIL will expect us to cough up some money at some point...) so f she doesn't deserve it then, we can keep it a while longer before giving her the money.

    MWCx

Wow you are a seriously great aunty! And as it seems to be a gift from the heart all power to you. I don't think your SIL has any right to expect anything though, it's not your child and you have no parental responsiblity towards her. Just my opinion :).

I have 3 nieces and 1 nephew. The two younger kids are definitely from a family where money is a little tighter. My brother earns a good wage (a very good wage actually) but they got started a little later in life, he was a student for a long time (PhD) and they spent a lot of money on rent before finally getting their own home and with one thing another they just aren't as financially well placed. I think sometimes that I should really not buy as much for the other two kids as they have presents and toys coming out their ears, not just from their parents (and some from my parents) but my SIL comes from a wealthy background so the grandparents on that side of the family tend to spoil them rotton :). It's tricky - so far I've not really done anything differently. I only see them once a year so in the 3 weeks that I'm in NZ I fairly much spoil them all as much as I can without being silly about it.

I never normally win but couldn't help myself... I was fed up of being patronised by a 8 year old - she is such a smug winner. In future, I'll remember not to give her two +4 cards in quick succession just before I win :rotfl:
