Upgrade Advice Needed......
well my upgrade is due in a few days, and despite my bill averaging just over £30 they have given me an upgrade fee of £99 towards the handset
im on t-mobile so the choice is limited
ive narrowed it down to a
motorola v3 black (1)
nokia 6630 (3) or a
samsung d500 (2)
EDIT: ALSO NOW A 6230i which is now most favourite
the numbers beside each one is what i woudl prefer to get in order
however i prefer nokia but the 6630 is a bit too big for me
at the mo i have a nokia 6230 and woudl prefer somethign very similar to it in all its features
any helps

Do you definitely want to stay with T Mobile or do you have to keep the same number?
You could get better deals on the same phones if you were a 'new' customer with a different network or even with T Mobile... if it was with another network you could transfer your number but if you wanted to stay with T Mobile you'd get a new one.
If you're not sure about the phones you have to choose from you could wait and just continue your contract until a new phone you prefer comes out... for example, if you like your 6230 you could wait and possibly upgrade to the 6230i.
From what I've read on other forums a lot of people were looking forward to the v3 but then when they actually got it were disappointed. Out of the three phones you've listed I would say my choice would sway between the 6630 and the D500... if you're not going to use 3G and size is an issue for you then I'd go with the D500.
Those phones have been available for quite a while now (for mobile phones) so maybe you'd just be better holding off and getting something more up to date when the new models come out.0 -
but id rather get it now mate
i want to saty with t-moile but also would like to keep my number
10 years and still please with service!!!
however they have nothign new out soon, just sammy e720 or s you said 6230i which is just the same really but a better camera!!!0 -
I would personally go with the Sammy myself. Features wise and ease of use the Nokia wins hands down. the v3 is simply for looks, moto's menu systems are most annoying indeed. Had a v3 and didn't like it too much in all respects (as mentioned above!!).
HTH.

I had the v600 and the v80 so the v3 was a bit too similar for me although i did like the look and spec of the v3 but not enough of improvement of specs for me to upgrade to so i got the d500 which i cant fault yet, everything i would like in a phone is there and suits, its very lightweight but not flimsy, looks and sounds good and out of all the new releases and forthcoming mobiles the only other one i would consider is the d600.
Ive had a few phones over the past 2/3 years starting with good old trusty nokias but then they started churing out too many similar models and not producing a decent clam with bluetooth, so reluctently i looked at teh moto range having heard how bad they were to use but the v range isnt so, they have improved it big style so cant fault that and only moved to samsung cause it had 1.3 mp camera and glad i did;)
PS Forgot to ask have you considered the 'im thinking of leaving' question to see what they offer you then? Ive used it a couple of times, even got the letter into cancel and 2 days before cut off recieved a great deal on a low end tariff v80 free on £15 tariff when other were looking for £100 for the phone on said tariff. The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
now i wont threaten to leave becasue my tariff is such that no network can manage even the network of 3 is a poor relation to it, hwoever wont mention the tariff itself
i got the tariff as i had a mate who used to work at t-mobile but has not left, but the old tariff stays to whoever it is given out to unless i end it but i wont, no point is there
i might go for the nokai 6230i now, as similar to the 6230
it now has more pixels, a much better camera and video
and better internal memory
and with all the other phones being a poor comparison i might as well wait a wait and buy this..........0 -
Maybe the D600 which is due out soon too. Think that and the 6230i will be out aroung August/Sept time for upgrades, prices will drop after Xmas2p off is still 2p off!0

The 6230i is listed in the current carphonewarehouse magazine so it must be out anytime now0

The 6230i is due out this Monday 11th April. You can preorder it on one of the websites, not sure which but a google will pick it up.
Coincidentally my contract expires 11 May and I can obtain my pac code from Monday. Just wondering whether to call on monday for my pac code and start negotiations or wait a couple of weeks.
I am currently on a retention tarrif with Vodafone, have been with them for almost 14 years (My first phone was a Nokia 101), I have always had Nokia's but have never had fancy ones just taken the free upgrade each year. However, I had decided to go for the Motorola V500 but when speaking to a CSA at BT mobile (whilst trying to sort out my husbands lost phone) he said that if I had always had Nokia's then I should stick with them and the best phone on the market was the 6230 and had won all the awards. After a little investigation I discovered that the 6230i was due out so am now considering getting that, however, I saw the 6230 the other day and thought it looked quite ugly. I was really going for the Motorola for its looks, but I had said to the CSA that I didn't like my hubbys T610 and that was when he said I would be better sticking with Nokia.
So whats your verdict a jazzy clamshell from Motorola or a loaded ugly duckling from Nokia. Also I was told that the clamshells suffered problems with the wiring breaking where its opened and closed all the time.
My retention tarriff is £15 per month, 100 xnet rollover for two months, no text. I know that I can get 200 xnet plus cash back from e2save which brings it down to £15 per month with a free 6230 or for £20 a 6230 plus bluetooth headset (which I want).£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far
+ however may £2 coins I have saved in my Terramundi since 2000.
Terramundi weighs 8lb 5oz0
