When I got married the first time, there was me, OH, our 6 month old daughter, my mum, dad, brother and sister.
Mum paid for the licence, Dad took us for a meal at the local Brewsters, we paid for a night at the travelinn. I had on a cream suit that I had bought fform the local GUS shop for £11, about 6 months earlier and had never worn, and I think my daughter was the only one we actually bought a new outfit for.
Matching rings from Argos.
It lasted 6 years but there you go!
Last year my newer other half propsed to me, he just came home from work and asked. I said yes, a fortnight later we were in the Trafford centre and decided to look for rings, I coldn't justify spending ooodles of money on a diamond that I would be scared of wearing.
We ended up in one jewellers that was a bit cheaper than the like of Beaverbrooks, and I chose a lilac cz on a gold band, to anyone that asks I can say that its Tanzanite (rarer than diamonds), and it cost a huge £39.99
(though he did say that he felt mean cos it didn't cost much, but I fell in love with it the minute I saw it)
Saying all that, we haven't made any plans to actually get married yet!0 -
Do you remember my story Mola?
I went down on one knee outside of Macds in Kings cross, and proposed to OH. He said yes. We dont have a ring. MAterialism has got us into a mess, and its not something I really want anymore. We celebrated our new life together with a happy meal ( 1.99 :money:)
When we get wed, I wont be spending loads. I look at what other people spend and say "you can buy a holiday home for that! you can buy a speedboat for that!" etc
love is being together and knowing THATS whats important, ring or no ring. xx:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Wise words from the DFW bods as always! Don't get caught up in what other people think you should have, (others as in non-DFW people). What is important is that you have each other, and love doesn't cost a thing xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes.
