Worried sick over Universal Credit, can anyone advise?

A couple living in a three bedroom flat with two young children will be assessed as having a spare room, the children will be expected to share a room. They will have to pay 14% of the total rent. If one of the parents works the wage he/she earns will be deducted from what these bloodsuckers say they need to live on and benefits will top it up. There will be no point working unless they can earn £35,000+. But if they split up and each get a two bedroom flat and claim for one child each they will get considerably more. We are not talking about just a few quid. Universal credit will cause more unemployment, add to the housing shortage and split families.
Universal credit could also make people take responsibility for their choices in life.
For goodness sake is the taxpayer supposed to featherbed people for the whole of their lives?
Benefit payments equivalent to a £35k salary is a huge amount. If anyone wants more then perhaps they should be looking at ways to earn it for themselves not expecting the hard pressed taxpayer to fund them a better life than the taxpayer can afford for himself.0 -

That doesn't make sense. The average salary I believe is about £24K, so many families who do work ARE receiving less that what many receive in benefits. Should they continue to do so Whilst we see more and more working families deciding to cut their hours to the minimum because they won't be worse off doing so, resulting in less contribution/higher cost of the benefit bill?0 -

But it will be a disaster. Families will be forced to split up because they will get more money living apart. There will be even higher demand for social housing. People have been pushed too far. A revolution is coming.
People who are being supported long-term by other people who are being crippled by taxation are in no position to revolt. It's more likely that the workers will revolt, cease to pay and pay into the bottomless pit of welfare, and then where will you be?I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Indeed. What if all workers decided that next week they will all stop working and paying tax. Many of them would discover that they are actually better off on benefits.0 -

We are in the EU, so you can leave the UK if you want and find another EEA country that pays better benefits, now that the UK is stopping being the most generous welfare country.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

We are in the UK, so you can leave the job if you want and find another lifestyle that pays better benefits, now that the UK is still the most generous welfare country.0 -

What nonsense, the UK is far from being the most generous welfare givers in the EU.

I give up. You people have no idea of the damage these Conservatives will cause. Wait until they get started. Universal credit is about cutting the welfare budget. They will hit the people who can least afford it. Pensioners, disabled, long term sick etc. If they really want to save money they should stop all foreign aid, stop funding American wars and crack down on tax avoidance by big companies like Apple, Facebook, Amazon etc. But before they do any of that they should look closer to home and investigate expense accounts of their own mp's. Some of them claim more for lunch than i have to live on for a week. And before any of you Daily Mail readers start calling me a scrounging leftie, I work 30 hours a week and vote BNP.0

30 hours - just what WTC state, most families work far more than that!
Pensioners, some long term sick (who have been able to not work and be paid for ages), need a reality check.
Only in the UK do pensioners get a 100% payrise if on benefits!
Whilst working pensioners have a decrease of what can be 90%0
