Is it just me, or??

Would you be a bit miffed if you found a very young cat in a large busy car park and established that it had been there all day, (member of staff ie: trolley man at end of 8 hour shift) dodging cars, and upon taking it to a vet simply to ask them to scan it for a chip you are advised that you should take it back to the car park and let it go, this is without said vet actually speaking directly to you, not knowing that you are a customer of theirs and that you are already prepared to not simply dump the poor thing on them, His temporary name is Houdini after two succesful attempts at escaping from the cardboard box on the way home in the car!!:D

I would be miffed as well. Is he with you now?
  • Oh yes he is here all right, holed up in youngest (17) DS bedroom, our cat has caught his scent and is walking around looking furious ha ha!! She already has to put up with a semi stray ginger tom who comes a calling for a nightcap most evenings, unless the dog gets wind then he tends to half chase him (very elderly dog, no chance of catching the ginger one) will go back to the area and put up posters in the morning, he is obviously very well loved as he is just so happy to be petted, really purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrey!!!!!!! (is that even a word?)

I'd be telling the vet why I was moving to another practice.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

I'd miffed if some one pinched my cat. The vets advice is right.

But she hasn't pinched the cat! She is looking after it and was,and will be,trying to find it's owner.By asking the vet to scan it she was doing exactly the right thing.

And as for the vet being right in putting it back into the same situation where it was likely going to be run over is just plain stupid. If that was my cat i would be very glad that someone took the trouble to remove it from such a dangerous situation .
  • Manky, the cat was in a dangerous situation, and had been on a 16ft high wall with no way down for the best part of the day acccording to the trolley man, he said he didn't know how it had got down into the car park, he's a young cat, not yet an adult really, and had no idea how to react to the other shoppers ( more importantly their cars!!) The worst that is going to happen to him now is he will stay here over night and he will be reunited with his owners hopefully sometime tomorrow, if I had left him there (or returned him as the vet suggested) it is very likely that he would have got run over. THEN he would have been a dead or injured kitty instead of a really hungry little rascal!!

I'd have done the same but I'd also put up notices round the car park in case there is an upset and worried catless person fretting somewhere.

Edit: Just saw your other post saying you'll be doing this, sorry.

  • This is how I got my last cat :)
Poor thing was wandering round morissons car park for a week or so, someone there managed to catch him and take him to the vets but no chip and the vet just said to put him back.
He looked dumped as his fur was matted and full of burrs, also quite thin. Anyhow after I heard about him I said if he comes back I'll take him on, so a few days later I got a call once he came back and I went to pick him up.
I did however try my best to find the owners but no luck so he stayed with me :D He was a lovely cat, put on weight with me and looked so much better after a few weeks, we called him morris!
:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly :D
