Sainsbury's SO organic lamb steaks $6.. cooked so they were just past pink. Thick, juicy, flavourful and utterly delicious with a nice edge of flavourful lamb fat.

Still waiting for people who don't normally buy organic to pop in and review yellow stickered organic stuff they've bought.

Not quite related to yellow stickered stuff but organic fruit and veg goes bad much quicker in the fridge than regular stuff, so it isn't suited to me. I do have organic onions - reduced to 33p a bag in the fridge however and they have been ok for months, just finished the last one.

i had a pack of organic prepared veg reduced to 30p yesterday and it was nice.

Dried foods are fine - stock up on Organic Jumbo oats when on offer. Organic rye bread goes bad really quickly too.

I have bought some Waitrose Organic baked beans to try out.

^ the bread will go off quicker due to lack of mould inhibitor etc. With the veg though, I wonder if it's not as fresh due to a smaller turnover in sales?

Wasn't impressed with the Morrisons organic cucumber this week, that did go mouldy quite quick. Waitrose ones seem better.

Edwardia re the Yarrah, yes it's expensive! especially given how much a larger dog would eat. Our old dog used to throw up nearly every commercial dog food, no idea what was in it to cause that (so he had to have meat from supermarkets).

Yes very end of season now for potatoes, by the time the new ones are in I should hopefully have my own if the ground dries out.. but the ones Ocado supplied last week were so good. Not sure what to do with the rest of these, maybe Patatas Bravas to disguise the taste..
  • Was in town so went past M&S to see if any YS was there -IMHO their food is overpriced even on YS. Got few things - paid £0.80 for 250ml metal tin of what I assume/guess to be extra virgin all singing and dancing olive oil, no English writing on it at all, only French so none of sales assistants were able to decipher what I was buying and neither did I as I never studied French in my life. Then some walnut bread, not organic, but still very nice. Fresh prepared pineapple, some Asia inspired smoked salmon mouse(very nice), organic fruit yogurt x4 and some low fat natural organic yogurt.
Did not notice very many organic products in my M&S but would definitely buy fruit yogurt again - very fruity and , most important, not too sweet. Natural yogurt is OK, but tastes too much of a cow if you know what I mean ;).

we (UK) have the fifth largest organic consumer sales worldwide :) - probably down to Edwardia!

Germany are 2nd and have around 5 times more organic sales in £ compared to the UK - the Germans must love their organic - what are the prices like there I wonder.

and it also says The countries with the highest annual per person spending were Switzerland and Denmark with more than 160 euros.

Organic processed pet food is ridiculously expensive, maybe try home prepared raw if you fancy a change? I partially raw fed my dear boy Noah who is no longer with us and it was not difficult at all, chopped up offal in batches and frozen on a baking sheet then bagged free flow, plus bone in meat mostly chicken (they can eat RAW bone as they would in the wild). For dogs you can add frozen veggies to make it cheaper. Defrosted a couple of days at a time in the refrigerator. Alternatively you can buy ready made raw pet food, including organic.

Fire Fox - The FoodieLab gets tinned with sides of meat, poultry, game, fish, veg and eggs. He seems to have developed doggie Alzheimers and is quite difficult yo look after :(

berbastrike :D nowt to do with me :rotfl:I am surprised UK is that high. Germans very keen on organic food. Aldi does organic food, bornintoit posted up website earlier in thread. In Aldi Germany organic food is cheaper than non organic here. No plans to do it in UK but was launched last year in USA where Aldi owns Trader Joe's. I expected Switzerland to be high and Scandinavia.

blueyellowred - M&S is very disorganised about organic food, there's no recognisable range to look for and I couldn't get a PDF or list either. If French it would say something like L'huile d'olive Extra Vierge. Organic is biologique, often abbreviated to bio. Other European counties often call organic bio as well.
Suggest you don't eat Everest paneer then as it tastes like solidified milk !

sophlowe45 there you go.. some YS reviews on this page. :)

Looks like you are right - just googled, nothing in English but looks like it is organic medal winning artisan olive oil with protected designation of origin. And it's priced at 8 euro per that little tin. Might go back and get few more - cheaper than normal olive oil and it does taste rather good. I am one of those weird people who cannot stand taste of very strong virgin olive oil - it does not enhance taste of salad it simply kills/overpowers it.

Fire Fox - duh, of course. :p He gets Laverstoke Park Farm organic beef bones when I make stock and he gets mixer as well plus pigs' ears and Postman's Legs aka cow shin bones. ;)

There's a doctor on BBC Radio Five Live saying " we are all victims of our food environment " as he discusses banning fast food outlets near schools. 60% of adults are obese  Interestingly he said that though people from lower socio-economic groups are more vulnerable to poor health and that' s been known for years. they are seeing middle class kids becoming obese -1 in 3 kids are obese now, we have the fattest kids in Europe

blueyellowred I'm confused, was the olive oil 80p for 250ml or 8 euros ?
    Sounds good stuff though.
