Don't buy sugar, OH dollops jam on porridge and peanut butter on toast.
Suma organic peanut butter in smooth or crunchy which I buy in Budgens, no added salt or sugar, no added oil, just peanuts. I've been buying it for 2.99 for 340g but just seen on Amazon
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Suma-Organic-Crunchy-Peanut-Butter/dp/B006MVVQAE
6 for 17.34 = 2.89 each with free delivery or subscribe and save for 15.61 = 2.60ish each.0 -
slightly off topic, but I have read about the dangers of using deodorants in the supermarket such as sure, lynx etc. They contain a type of aluminium which is absorbed by skin and is being found in tissues especially in the brain. Aluminium is toxic to the body  and has been linked to cancer. Its the aluminium that blocks the pours from sweating (anti perspirant), so a metal is blocked your pours, I don't like the idea of it. Not to mention some also contain alcohol often disguised as "denat" which is also absorbed and bad for the body.
I just bought this today:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crystal-Deodorant-Essence-Pomegranate-Roll-On/dp/B0028FGUHW/ref=sr_1_15?s=drugstore&ie=UTF8&qid=1360053903&sr=1-15
there are lots of these types available just search for crystal deodorant or rock deodorant.
The ingredients are:
Purified Water (Aqua), Natural Mineral Salts (Potassium Alum), natural fragrance made with pomegranate essential oils and extracts, cellulose
"Potassium ALum" is a type of aluminium but much different to those mentioned above as it is not absorbed by skin as the molecules are too large to pass through. The crystal deodorants also get great reviews. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Compost bin in kitchen for food waste - yes though I think it's unhygienic
Recycling paper card plastic glass - yes
Traveling by privatized public transport - yes
Wearing organic cotton tshirts - yes
Wearing good for my feet Crocs - yes - faux fur lined ones in Winter
Organic skincare products - yes
Organic cotton wool pads, buds, pleats and balls to get it off with - yes
Organic shampoo, conditioner, shower gel - yes
Organic food - yes
Organic tea, coffee and milk - yes
Organic surface cleaner - yes
Trad wax polish not aerosol - yes
Trad paint not vinyl emulsion - yes
Kinder to the environment laundry products - yes
Organic gardening - yes
But although I dislike the idea of aluminum in my brain I also dislike the idea of waving crystals under my arms or doing the Chicken Tonight dance in the bathroom to dry my pits.

I've yet to find a good enough natural deo if working in an office (usually they are too hot due to stupid women wearing flimsy clothes and wanting the temp whacked up...) as I'm too nervous to risk it and revert to conventional, though the rest of the time I use Jason Natural tea tree stick, it's good and lasts quite a while. I do have a crystal deo sat in the bathroom but admittedly haven't got round to trying it!!0

Managed to leave behind 2 organic Norwegian salmon fillets at my mother's. She had them last night and said they had a very subtle flavour and were nice and juicy. The brand was The Seafood Company, bought them in either Sainsbury's or ASDA.0

I understand that branded products contain a lot of not so great ingredients for your health and sometimes I try to avoid them and buy something different.
I read that Whole Earth products are better for your health and not so long time ago I bought Whole Earth lightly whipped hazelnut chocolate spread(I should add that I buy chocolate spreads no more than twice a year, they are too sweet)
Now when I read about chocolate spreads I opened cupboard to check ingredients, guess what palm oil!
To be honest I can't understand why in most organic products which usually cost much more than standard brand palm oil is listed as one of ingredients.( OK!I can understand ,probably because palm oil is so cheap!)
Sainsbury's organic digestive biscuits-palm oil.
Whole earth chocolate spread-palm oil
abel and cole wholemeal bread -palm oil( get one as freebie because i bake my own bread and add butter or olive oil).
I guess if I want to avoid palm oil I need to check all ingredients more carefully (hubby would kill me if I would spend hours and hours in shop:D)
P.S. At least my son don't eat chocolate spreads too often and he really enjoy chocolate Philadelphia and peanut butter.“The simple things are also the most extraordinary things, and only the wise can see them.”

Will defo be checking ^ Edwardia. We've already gone through a bottle since lunchtime but I've started on it too!
For anyone who was thinking of trying the organic veg box from Ocado, I am really super pleased with it! Was a bit worried due to the very mixed reviews but what I got today couldn't have been fresher. I do wonder if some people don't know the best way of storing veg as well or is there variation depending on where it's coming from ie which distribution depot/supplier? I just don't get how the quality can vary so much? Also my order arrived on the last day of the current box contents, new items start tomorrow.
Veg box was veg and salad items, all clean, normal price £17.99, it was on offer the other week for £14.39 so I added it in my basket then as despite the offer date running out it stayed at the same pricethen I got the 20% code via email and waited for a free delivery.... so only paid £11.52 for the box along with all the other shopping on top, loads of organic offers saving me £10 ish and £12 of discount on top overall, got free delivery for early afternoon, fantastic as normally have to wait for a night slot to get it free. Driver turned up spot on time, polite and friendly and no missing items. No idea how price compares with buying the items separately but I much prefer the box as it makes me eat a bigger variety.
Veg box was a nice deep box with a lid. There is so much in it, rather a lot for me!! Lovely to have veg without all the packaging. The only item in plastic was the celery and the shallots and tomatoes were in paper bags. Potatoes and garlic were a bit damp from being chilled so drying them out before storing - these items would have benefited from being in paper bags.
Contained 11 items and matched the expected contents:
4 large bulbs of garlic
Cabbage - January King I think (came with 1 maggot lol but I don't worry about those now I grow my own!)
Lettuce - butterhead type - if someone doesn't know how to store this it would go limp quick but it is very fresh on arrival
Celery - would have liked a few more leaves left on, supermarkets cut too many off but lovely still
3 x leeks
Broccoli, quite large
7 x rainbow carrots
4 x beetroot, good size
7 x potatoes, Vales Sovereign apparently - big enough for me to use as baking potatoes so that's 7 meals in one item
14 x shallots
8 x vine tomatoes
All produce Soil Association and from UK, France, Italy and Spain.
Been a very long time since I had an org box as with the allotment I stopped getting them but don't have so much stored this winter due to the bad growing season so nice to be able to order one again. I didn't need garlic and potatoes as have my own but will still eat them as better than what I have.
Tempted to try A&C, Riverford and my local farm for a box now to compare.0 -

Very interesting info on Ocado box, thanks. Was considering one myself but am doing the A&C buy 3 boxes get 4th free at the moment.
Also very interested in Ocado 20% off and free delivery. I have delivery pass at the moment at £6.99 a month but thIs is the last month at that price. Next month it will be £10.99 so I'm planning cancelling and then doing the occasional big shop in a free delivery slot rather than regular smaller shops. I do like Ocado; good website, good service, and they stock all the odds ands ends I buy regularly
But not sure I can justify £10.99 a month on delivery. Hope I'll get some money off codes if I cancel delivery pass0
