green and blacks is owned by kraft.

ok avoid happy egs and might seek out local supply.

i have milkman non organic and comes in plastic not glass.

im paying more fopr milkman milk rest of time try do lilds milk for £1.

Thinking the waitrose organic was quite good value and does taste nice so need to readress this.

Have brought lost organic yogurts for kids in past but last year or so stuck to value fromage frais as money been tight..

Maybe we should lobby morrisions re eggs.

I guess supermarkets not catering as either we not their customer base and people dont want organic as so expensive.

ocado /waitrose more affuent customer base than tesco/asda.

    GM
ASDA and Morrisons allow supermarkets to feed GM feed across all non-organic ranges, Sainsbury's allow some. Waitrose doesn't allow GM to be fed across any range. Organic is GM free. 3 out of 4 UK shoppers against GM in recent Food Standards Agency survey.

    Eggs
Having found free range/organic eggs cheaper than supermarket prices from local farms in Spar and Budgens I think this is doable if you look around.

    Milk
Milkman prices more expensive ! Moo organic UHT is $1 per litre in supermarkets (2 for 1.50 at ASDA at moment). Lidl does organic semi skimmed 2 pints 99p. Plenty of offers on 2 x 4pints for $3 at supermarkets. Have a look on www.mysupermarket.co.uk

Yes it does taste better and organic means no GM feed or routine antibiotics.

    Yogurt
Plenty of offers on all the time see mysupermarket and Yeo Valley does yogurts for kids.

    Cheese
Not much organic soft cheese about in supermarkets, lots of hard cheese and usually offers see mysupermarket (currently offers on at Sainsburys)

    Butter
Organic own brands often cheaper than non organic brands

    Cereals
Weetabix has organic version. Not aware of any organic Kellogg's o rCheerios in UK. No British/EU made cereals will contain GM maize or rice as would have to be labelled. Sainsbury's has own brand SO organic cornflakes and some supermarkets sell Whole Earth brand.

    Venison
Used to be 100% wild, now some is farmed, some is wild and some is imported farmed frozen/chilled from New Zealand. Farmed venison could be fed GM feed presumably. Wild venison will be GM free unless snacking on GM crops. Farmed venison has to be shot on the farm not sent to abattoir. Morrisons does venison meatballs and burgers so does ASDA. Abel & Cole does venison. Lidl does frozen at Christmas.

UK farming standards are same as EU. RSPCA freedom Food standards may be higher welfare but not organic. Red Tractor means British reared, pretty high welfare standards (read thru regs), most Lidl meat is Red Tractor. Red Tractor is not organic and can be fed GM.

Yes, I do eat organic everything I can find. Was difficult at first.

Sainsbury's has quite big organic range nd price matches brands to Tesco. Ocado has Waitrose and Ocado orgnic ranges, lower than Tesco brand price promise. Ocado delivery expensive unless you get free slots early morning/late night. Waitrose price matches Tesco on brands, free delivery all of the time on orders over $50. Morrisons very little organic, ASDA ditto but if you find an ASDA with organic they have the lowest prices for it. Very little organic Lidl. Aldi only does organic Germany and USA, I asked.

Poundland, 99p Stores and Lidl good for seeds if you want to grow own veg and herbs.

    hi Edwardia!
    In this article,http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/7852762/Supermarkets-selling-meat-from-animals-fed-GM-crops.html it says:

“All Morrisons fresh and frozen poultry, farmed fish, fresh eggs and organic product ranges are from animals that are fed a non GM diet. In line with many of our retail competitors, we can make no guarantee about any other products."

    have they changed this?

The Telegraph article dates back to 2010, the news I saw about ASDA and Morrisons was in The Grocer last year. I shan't bother looking now to put up a link though as many articles are now subscribers only when I do searches.

Mentioned Lidl seeds earlier on thread.. from Thursday they are in store and on offer.

I suspect it is this article:

    http://www.thegrocer.co.uk/companies/supermarkets/morrisons/morrisons-gambles-on-gm-chicken-feed-shift/227510.article

It won't let you copy and paste, but gist is this:

Morrisons is “moving in the wrong direction” and “making a big mistake” after authorising the use of GM feed by its poultry farmers

Tesco and Sainsbug are not allowing this YET.
