My thanks to Michelle who emailed me this afternoon to say she has refunded me the 2.86 isn't that great customer service !
Yes ^ a company worth using again, makes a change these days!
I'm having Taifun organic vegan grill sausages tonight, can't decide if I like them or not?! they are growing on me..0 -
Edwardia I noticed you listed a lot of fruit juice/smoothie offers. All of those lister have been pasteurised (heated to extreme temperatures). If you are an organic fan then I am not sure you will back this idea since its not a natural process.
I think Marks And Spencer do a fresh orange juice that is unpasteurised. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

berbastrike hi there
for me, the fruit juice is a tricky one..
From a personal perspective, I don't drink fruit juices, because I have Type 2 diabetes and nothing makes blood glucose spike more than orange juice.
Dr Robert H Lustig MD (whose lecture 'Sugar: The Bitter Truth' has had more than 3 million hits on YouTube) advocates eating the fruit rather than the juice. With fruit you at least get the fibre whereas the juice is mostly fructose, which can only be processed by the liver and is actually toxic.
Many people like fruit juices (my husband is one) and since they are a source of vitamins I include them.
If it's a choice between pasteurisation or preservatives I'd choose pasteurisation even if that does destroy some of the vitamin content.
When it comes to milk, most people drink pasteurised. My mother lives in the country and buys raw milk from a local farm dairy. It's legal to do that, but illegal to sell raw milk in shops.
There's MRSA in non-organic milk in the UK now and pasteurisation kills it. I wouldn't be buying non-organic raw milk, probably not even organic raw milk. Having been on a drip with e.coli 0157 I'm not overly anxious to get hospitalised again !
My view is that if pasteurisation kills bacteria and avoids preservatives then though that might not be a natural process, it hasn't added anything potentially harmful. If I could get unpasteurised fruit juices for OH I would buy them.
Pretty sure it's Mojisola who is anti-homogenisation ie breaking up fat molecules in milk. OH decided today that he would rather support a British farm than a dairy giant so we're switching to Abel & Cole milk from Berkeley Farm, which is UNhomogenised. Mojisola says the fat molecules after homogenisation are so small, that they can get into your bloodstream.
berbastrike and kirri - sadly no Marks and Spencer here but visiting my mother tomorrow and she need no excuse to go to M&S ! Will also be buying the McDonald's organic milk if I can find it !0 -

I agree, I don't buy fruit juice. Although we used to go to a fancy cafe sometimes, and they would make the orange juice infront of you, well put the fresh oranges into a juicing machine, and I could definitely taste the difference to Tropicana or supermarket fresh orange.
Something like 20g of sugar per 100ml is just not good at all. Nature didn't intend for us only to drink the juices, we're supposed to eat actual fruits. Fruit juice is also very acidic (erodes teeth), same acidity as coke.
thats very interesting re homogenisation. I would love to try some raw milk, i've heard it tastes much nicer.
and Edwardia no offence but is it not a bit weird going to McDonalds just to buy their organic milk? can't you get it at the supermarket lolThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I haven't had fresh from the fruit juice in soo long and wouldn't dare do it now, but I think there is a shop that does this in our town, veg juices too. Maybe I could try a veg one, thanks for the idea !
I'm expecting a few funny looks :rotfl:I'm buying it to try and review on my blog. I'm doing a series on airport food and I thought I'd save myself the trek to Grotwick Airport.0 -

What made you choose airports?'Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves'0 -
Eating away from home is a problem if your way of eating doesn't match up to the norm. Travel to an unfamiliar place is something we all have to do from time to time, be it car, bus or train to another town, meeting someone in an airport or flying off on holiday or business ourselves.
There are airlines which serve organic food on their scheduled flights and that gave me the idea to look at the availability of either organic or additive free food in airports.0 -
berbastrike!
Row milk taste delicious, there is nothing better than raw milk which is still warm! And all that cream which appears on the top later. mmmm...
Homogenised milk-someone took raw milk bottle and rinsed it with water, that's the taste. It looks like milk but tastes completely different and those who tried raw or pasteurised milk will agree with me.
It took me some time to find pasteurised organic milk(as i didn't shopped in waitrose so often)
Now at last I can enjoy tasty milk.
Duchy originals from wairtose organic pasteurised milk.4 pints cost 1.79£ or 2 for 3 £“The simple things are also the most extraordinary things, and only the wise can see them.”
