If you run out and are desperate..
I went out on a date recently and the guy wanted to go through a McDonalds drive thru for a coffee and I thought of this as I remembered the advert. We didn't in the end but at least I could have ordered something at least lol.'Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves'0 -

Found this organic cafe n Somerset called The Ethicurean.
Vitao www.vitao.co.uk is a vegan resto in London which uses mainly organic ingredients.
Amico bio www.amicobio.co.uk is another one in London which is Italian, vegetarian and organic.
Infinity Foods Cafe www.infinityfoodscafe.co.uk is a vegetarian organic cafe in Brighton.
Will try Vitao if I'm up in London, looks great! if I'm in London that is more the area I would be in for eating too and prices very good too.
I love Brighton too so noted the name of that cafe for when I next visit.
I went to look at the St Martin's tearooms in Chichester the other year but ended up eating in a place that looked like a crypt instead (as I wanted to take a photo!).0 -
Organic Food has come a long way since the days when it had a reputation for being grubby, ugly-looking and only found in the darkest corners of specialty health food stores. These days there are many shops including supermarkets that have Organic Food for sale (including Lettuce Deliver of course) and it is no surprise considering Organic Food Sales in Australia is growing at a rate of 30% per year.0

Hi johnsonn welcome to the thread.
If you look at YouTube there's a funny video set in Bondi Beach, called The Life Organic, by Dom and Adrian. I haven't put a link up as I feel some of the content is a bit risque for MSE
Kirri I love Brighton too. Have you been to Food for Friends or Terre a Terre ?

Not been to either of those, hadn't heard of Food for Friends but did look in Terre a Terre last time I was there though! I will go there at some point.
Not sure if already added but Waitrose had DGJ shampoos etc 1/3 off before. I had this from Ocado before when 50% off and was quite nice.0 -
I may be able to go to Waitrose on Friday with my mother and look for those.. presuming DGJ Organics means Daniel Galvin Junior ? Checked on Ocado and not on offer there
Big Green Smile www.biggreensmile.com has a 3 for 2 on selected Ecover products to 27/01/13 and 25% off Faith in Nature hair care products to 28/02/130 -

Yes, the Daniel Galvin Junior - I've only tried one variety, think it was the coloured hair type (orange bottle). I was only in a small Waitrose yesterday where I saw them.
Will check Ecover prices on BGS ^ The cheapest I've seen the 1.5 Litre washing liquid I like is on Amazon, if not on offer at the supermarkets.0 -
Hi
I've been buying organic produce since January 2008 and within 2 years had created a totally organic diet within my home. I've been vegetarian for over 30 years and cook everything from scratch so don't buy any processed foods now. This came hot on the heels of having been through cancer (earlier in the thread I noticed that someone's mother in law had suffered the same) which I recovered from after all the treatments and refuse to allow nasties into my food.
I started with Abel & Cole boxes but finally switched in 2012 when I realised that the company had sold out first of all to a venture capitalist and the banks owned it and more recently to the makers of Aunt Bessies. Where are the ethics and principles regards farming and food and the owernship of the company along with info to their customers. Were customers informed about changes in ownership? No!
I now buy from Riverford and love the updates about the farm and know exactly where my food is coming from and the conditions in which it is being farmed. The quality of food is far better than Abel & Cole and it shocks me to say it!! It is though! I had some cucumber from A&C and cucumber from Riverford ... the taste was completely different. This applies to other products. I've also noticed that food lasts longer. Guy Watson's (owner of Riverford) aim is to keep food affordable as far as he can whilst maintaining fair payments to suppliers ... a good thing. The prices are without doubt cheaper than Abel and Cole and the owner hasn't sold out, living in his mansion imagining that customers don't care about cost. I will have to find it again but Keith Abel suggested in an article last February that customers will pay anything. I won't!!! Not to support bankers, venture capitalists and Abel in his lifestyle.
I don't like organic producers that charge a fortune for something they are creating as beyond the reach of ordinary shoppers. I believe Daylesford do this. This goes completely against the concept of organic food which should be about fairness to everyone. Daylesford prices are ridiculous and I refuse to use them.
To back up my Riverford shop I use Infinity Foods in Brighton ... brilliant collective, good prices and fair to local producers. I use Ocado once a month for the big items and have a delivery pass. I don't tend to use them for organic fruit or veg because too frequently items are flown in which I completely disagree with. Why would I buy beans from Kenya when I can eat seasonal produce and cut the carbon footprint? However I do buy my organic flour and other storecupboard items which are sold at a reasonable cost. I rarely now use a supermarket which is absolutely great!!!
I've enjoyed reading this thread and thanks for starting it so long ago. I think I've read pretty much all the posts ... brilliant!0
