Hope everyone had a good Christmas, I still hate it! Even worse on restricted foods though I had a few things I shouldn't.. so much xmas type snack food is very salty..

Tried a couple of new organic items - Liz's granola - best granola I've had and I had the organic breadsticks from WF (recommended on here) and they were good. Got the John Hurd bunched watercress from Waitrose reduced - I didn't actually realise this brand was organic. Waitrose still had a lot of organic xmas special type items on xmas eve so worth looking out for if anyone is in store when open again as prob massively reduced. I've no desire to go anywhere near the shops though..

Very sad to read of an animal rescue centre and 'farm/attraction' in Kent losing animals to the storm and floods over the last 2 days :(

It appears so far from stuff posted about ^ (they have been deleting comments online but some media sites are trying to get info it seems) that most animals died but no confirmation yet - there was a flood warning specifically mentioning them on Monday, river burst Tuesday, they moved what animals were still alive Wed ie 2 days post flood warning - waiting to hear some sort of explanation though :(

The other place affected was the Retreat also around Tonbridge, they are a rescue who were appealing for help due to iirc 15k of damages :(

I know Sedlescombe very well ! The vineyard (actually at Cripps Corner) has a very good rep tho as we don't normally drink I haven't visited.

If you're relying on public transport, the nearest rail station is Battle, 2.4 miles away. Battle is a cutesy little town with plenty of independent shops and teashops plus Battle Abbey and Yesterday's World. http://www.yesterdaysworld.co.uk/

Called my mother, she said if you get the train to Hastings, then you can get the 349 bus which stops right outside she thinks.

There's an organic bakery in Hastings Old Town, owned by the co-founders of Green & Black's plus a castle, fishing museum, museum, cliff lift and a nice independent health food store I can recommend plus a cafe which does yummy veggie food, above a gift shop.

^ that's really useful, I don't drink wine but I still like visiting places like that - I've only been to Denbies but that's not organic. Unusual (and really useful) there is a bus service, often places like that are just not that accessible on public transport. I may try and get down in the summer, Hastings and surrounds seem to have more and more alternative/vegan type eating places too from what I've been reading and I've been meaning to go back as not been there for about 20 years and I've been meaning to visit the castle. Didn't know about the organic bakery either. Edit - the bakery looks amazing! Am adding all these links to my bookmarks..

This is somewhere I have on the to visit list:

Riverford has a sale on at the moment see the red sale bit - what's on sale depends on where you live. Check box on Home page to find out when your deliveries are, mine is moved from Friday to Sunday this week.

I've priced up next very small order on both A&C and Riverford, same items (standard non sale veg/salad bits) and prices are about £2.50 more overall on A&C, which on a minimum order value order is quite a bit really.

OH volunteered to go out food shopping so I've sent him to Lidl to look for organic onions, carrots and additive-free prosciutto and to ASDA for organic mushrooms and leeks. Then he'll nose in Sainsbury's.

    We're going out book-shopping later hehe. :T
