Hi bornintoit big hug ((((((bornintoit))))))) have been in that position myself and being unemployed does bash your confidence because there's the tendency to think ' No-one wants to employ me, I must be useless'.

There's a recession going on and some employers can't afford to employ more people even though they want to. Secondly, you are a person, a job is something you do, it doesn't define you.

So.. practical ideas.. see if you can find this book at the library The Perfect CV by Tom Jackson. Mine has a different cover to the one shown in the Amazon link below so I might have bought it in Canada that's why I'm suggesting checking in a library. You should be able to get them to do an inter library loan for under 50p.

Mine has got CV suggestions and styles for every kind of job from factory worker to CEO, teacher, journalist, scientist - loads of different kinds of jobs.

There's also a big section on marketing your skills, helping you to figure out all the skills you have so you can maybe take them and move into a new field.

    Hope that helps xxx

Kirri spotted this ebook on organic gardening on Amazon - 77p !

Just done Ocado order for next week saved over £16 :) Ordered White's organic jumbo porridge oats 750g from the Northern Ireland specialty section within Ocado and they are 20p cheaper than Mornflake even though not on offer. Soil Association certified too. Ocado offers change on 3rd December.
  • Ok so it's not organic but at least it's without all the horrible extras that appear to be in all the standard and expensive alternatives, just pure cacao. Tried this because it was on half price with a smart pass voucher at Ocado but would pay normal price of £5 now we know how good it is. Takes a little longer as you must melt the chocolate before blending the milk in a little at a time and then heat and whisk. Add sugar to taste and it's so good. It says to use 1 square per cup and we used 3 for 2 mugs. 1 pack contains 32 squares so I think overall cost is reasonable and it's much nicer than willys cacao although I shall be using the willys cacao grated in cakes as it seems to taste good and gives a slightly speckled effect.

    Anyone else use cacao ?

Also half price with the smart pass voucher was organic grumpy mule coffee beans which are really nice but I wouldn't buy at full price (4.99 for 227g) and union ground espresso (4.75 for 227g)
Half price makes them affordable but can't justify a fiver for a pack of coffee.

Shakes head < not used raw cacao, in fact never knowingly eaten it until I had a bite of 9 bar.

I used to get Hershey's unsweetened 100% natural cocoa

Evidently ASDA (part of Walmart) stocked it for awhile as was on mysupermarket. Not listed on ASDA website now so might be discontinued ??? http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/asda-compare-prices/cocoa_and_instant_drinks/hersheys_cocoa_natural_unsweetened_226g.html

I have tried the Union coffee but wasn't keen. I found Lofbergs organic and lurve that so much I don't think I'd buy anything else now. I don't drink instant, only drink on Christmas Day - so I have a few squares of 90% cocoa chocolate and a cafetiere occasionally. It is expensive.. but hey, I'm worth it ;):D

Bought small organic broccoli in ASDA tonight for £1 :) also had big thick organic trimmed leeks for £2, better price and quality than Sainsbury's actually.

OH bought Amy's Kitchen frozen mattar paneer 283g 2.25 which is gluten free, vegetarian and uses veg grown without pesticides - but simply curried flavour sauce with bits of cheese, chick peas and peas in it plus ultra-white rice with flecks of something. Not a lot like the photo and he hated it. NWBA (not worth buying again)

Visited the new Marks and Spencer at Bexhill, which is situated on a retail park and backs onto the beach. Quite a trek for me.

The Food Hall has own brand gluten free cod fishcakes, mince pies, bread and cakes plus organic milk, eggs, green tea with lemon or jasmine and packs of organic kids yogurts.

Tesco, (on the same retail park) has a large ingredients section (one of best stocked I've seen) and I picked up some dried wild mushrooms. Tesco Finest beech and oak smoked wild Alaskan smoked salmon was on offer 2 for £8. Bought Tesco NZ lamb chops for £4 as they didn't have enough left to do three for £10. The Seeds of Change quinoa & wholegrain rice packets which I first grabbed at 99p Stores were on offer on a twofer.

Couldn't find any Genius brown sliced so had to schlepp to a Sainsbury's en route to station but got them for 2.90. Picked up 4 Sainsbury's FreeFrom rolls reduced from 2.19 to 1.49 as well.

Budgens had Heinz tetrapak sauces on sale and I bought OH a Cole's gluten free Christmas pudding :)

My mother was happy but moi, I'm shopped out !

Hello everybody. Just dropping by to see how you all are. Checking up on the regulars ;).

For those who know alittle about my situation, I am still looking for work, staying positive and motivated. My confidence has taken a knock though, I used to find it so easy and now I am finding it terribly hard. When you want to be in work it can be difficult to take. I am looking forward to Christmas though.

I hope you are all well.

I am just popping in to day Hi too. Out organic food is still limited to Dutchy milk, green and Black's chocolate and whatever had a yellow sticker on it in Waitrose:rotfl:. We have been hit with some big vet bills (Bunny survived for those that followed and is now eating more than ever!) so are using up food we have as much as we can.

Just wanted to reply to born in to it. Edwardia has given some great advice already. I understand how horrible it is to be in that situation. Difference circumstances but I was out of ft work for 9 years studying and I was really worries about working again. I was no longer confident in my skill set, my ability to interact with people.. everything. Anyway to cut a long story short I got a job in September and it had been fantastic so far, nothing I worried about has been an issue! What I am trying to say is keep going and it will all come good in the end.

    Hour everyone is OK.

bornintoit - in much the same position, is hard to stay motivated when employers have so much almost hatred to anyone with a gap on the cv, they seem to think people have lost any ability, experience or intelligence they had! Saw a job ad with spelling mistakes in this morning too, that always bugs me!

Just saw this on the Honeybuns site and looks interesting:

I've been to Wholefoods again :D albeit on a limited budget..
Tried the Rude Health oat/spelt cakes but can't decide if I like them , anyone got any fave crispbread/cracker type products? (they have to go with nut butter)

Am not updating so much at the mo, there are some mega xmas comps around and I'm trying to win some food!

WOW Kirri.. would be a huge trek across country but looks like a place where low carb me could eat with wheat n soya free low purine husband and low salt veggie mother. Well found !!

I would recommend this Swedish crispbread - crunchy, tasty, made with water from a spring on their land, no additives, has eco friendly certification, heritage brand in Sweden.

Was cheaper than Ryvita at Ocado as well but seems to have disappeared - hopefully just temporarily.

http://www.scandikitchen.co.uk/products/Leksands-Trekant-Normalgraddat-200g.html on offer at Scandinavian Kitchen for 1.35 - the shop is in London W1 and has Tillmans organic jams and cordials as well as gluten free crispbreads and waffle mix.

    Leksands info in English http://www.leksands.se/1014.php

Totally Swedish also has a shop in London W1 and carries organic jams and cordials, gluten free crispbreads and flours, frozen gluten free Swedish pastries, breads, organic bean crisps https://www.totallyswedish.com
