Oh I'm sorry hun :(:(. I was there in person and saw them so I know some branches are selling them.

Such a shame that Edwardia has left, I know the internet is full of people who think it's okay to hurt others just because they are behind a computer screen. I know noone is perfect but there are many people on here who will quickly jump on an imperfection to stick the knife in. I for one am sad to see Edwardia go.

Actually, she got some good advice on that thread and yes there were some fairly harsh comments but theres been the same on lots of other threads on here. If you start a thread you need to be prepared that some people will disagree with you and quite forcefully but thats the risk you take.

Im also sorry shes made that decision, I didnt think she was leaving the site, just leaving that thread in question.

in Poundland?? If so I will have another look when I'm next passing.

I've got some coming from Ocado, not such a good deal but they currently have 2 bars for £3 or the mini bar boxes for £3.66.

Come back to your thread, Edwardia! Just stay in here and ignore the other threads..
  • Hello everyone,

I went to the farmers market today and bought some organic carrots and some organic wine!!!! It was £6 which I don't think is too bad (although it is double my usual spend on st Jean from ALDI :-) ). Haven't tried it yet... Will post back when I do and give you the purchase details.

It is a shame about Edwardia. I can't remember what thread it was but I did read a post challenging her need to save money based on the posters opinion that she spent so much on food that saving money on other purchases was unnecessary. I only saw one post though. I have been reading the forum for years and know Edwardia has encountered this before and it can't be nice to have to defend your choices all the time. But, on the flip side Edwardia's explanations and reasoning are what had made me evaluate my food choices a bit more and I look for better quality food add a result.

This is why you should come back Edwardia... you have inspired people and you can continue to do so!!! Oh and why should other people's opinions drive you off the site?!!

  • I agree that organic has its benefits but is pricey. Lidl do some organic products which are very reasonable though.

Well it didn't ought to be accepted.

There is no need for the personal abuse that goes on on lots of internet forums & threads. People can state opinions without being abusive but too many enjoy being keyboard warriors.

I imagine many people think twice about posting on threads worried that they'll just get cr*p off a poster, I know I think twice about posting comments because I can't be *rsed dealing with snotty (or worse) comebacks. So that's my choice, but wish it wasn't like that.

Whilst not strictly supermarkets, I have joined a food co-operative that a friend runs with Suma. I am getting organic porridge oats at £1.20 per kg from them as they buy a 25kg sack. I get all my bread flour, yeast, raisins, olive oil etc from them as they can buy it all in bulk so works out cheaper than the supermarket. I'm not sure that I could sustain organic shopping if it wasn't for this co-operative so I feel really lucky. I'm not sure if you could find out about this sort of thing locally or if you have to know someone, or perhaps you could set something up yourselves. I think he was surprised at how well it has taken off.

I missed y'all and snuck back to read the thread today. I was touched to read such nice comments (really appreciate them xxx) so I've decided to come back just to post here on this thread.

OH looked mystified when I walked past the (non-organic but additive free) 200g President Brie which was on my shopping list, in Sainsbos today. £2 Sainsbury's, 1.95 Tesco, Waitrose, Ocado, 1.87 ASDA, 1.75 Iceland - so it's in my Iceland delivery.

If you can go to several supermarkets without that incurring extra fuel or fares eg on way back on school run or way back from work or nipping out at lunch time then it does save money if the item/s you want are cheaper.

Godminster organic black pepper Brie 150g 2.99, Abel & Cole. Thought I'd try this because my mother lurves Brie and thought it might be good for the Christmas cheeseboard. Oh dear, big (expensive) mistake. Despite being handmade in Somerzet using organic Jersey milk, it isn't peppery - certainly not as peppery as cracked black pepper Boursin. I'd recommend the Boursin instead but it contains potassium sorbate :(

    Budgens

Princes tuna chunks 4 x 160g pack in spring water (or brine if additive free) £5
Yeo Valley organic fruit yogurts 450g were 1.55 now any 2 for £2

    Iceland

Iceland 6 Atlantic cod fillets 780g (1 extra free) £4 - I use these to cook fish dishes from frozen and they are fine. I'd probably choose fresh to do something like cod in parsley/butter sauce though.

On a lighter note here's Petra Ecclestone Formula 1 heiress and 8 month old baby Lavinia at Urth organic cafe in LA in which Alexander Skarsgard has been spotted previously.
