Anchor butter always used to be made in New Zealand so would be GM free. Arla, the owner of the brand, moved production to the UK in 2012 so beware. I ordered some from Iceland cos it's on offer at the moment 1.30 for 250g without realising that it's now made in the UK

Arla natural cottage cheese 300g £1, Iceland.

Only added ingredient is salt. No artificial flavours or colours, no E numbers and no added thickeners. No direct GM ingredients, but since it's made by dairy giant Arla, it's not made with organic milk.

Taste-wise, slightly tart, firm, no watery stuff on top, good lumps of curd.

Abel & Cole is celebrating its' 25th birthday and if you go https://www.abelandcole.co.uk there's a competition for account holders.

Duchy Originals is 21 this year but surprisingly only tied the knot with Waitrose in 2010 and there's 25% off selected Duchy Originals products to 08/10 online https://www.waitrose.com and instore.

Opened the Plamil organic vegan mayo and it's very good.

Also tried the Yeo Valley sour cream this week and also really good (and I don't normally like sour cream).
  • There is this short film making the rounds at the minute, it was created by Chipotle Mexican Grill in conjunction with Apple. It is about unsustainable farming practices. Some have said it's about going vegan, others have said it is about GM foods, either way I think it does contain a good message.

Thanks for posting that bornintoit :) A long way back on the thread you'll find Back to the Start, which is another great animation. It features Willie Nelson singing a Coldplay song and if you watch the vid above on YouTube it's on RH side as well.

Kirri I can eat that Yeo Valley sour cream with a spoon, like yogurt :o

Not too long ago but pre -supermarket mobile app. we were so broke, that I used to keep a notebook with comparison prices from supermarkets. I'm thinking maybe I should do it again just to avoid wasting money - I paid £1 for Paterson's shortbread at Iceland but could have got Sainsbury's SO organic Highland shortbread fingers for 70p !

Holland & Barrett order arrived today - the organic noodles are actually in a bag all squishy and I was expecting dried ones. :o Some of the stuff is for Christmas - well if the BB date is July 2014 why not ;)

Anyone else started buying stuff other than presents, for Christmas ?
  • Hi all,

Well I survived my first week! :-). It was actually brilliant... I have fitted in really well to my team and I am confident that I can do the job.. So it's all good!!!

Edwardia would know because I have been posting on the take your lunch to work thread but I have taken sarnies and snacks every day :T. Although I have Been out for coffee with my new colleagues twice which was nice :).

I'm not on the organic train yet because I need to be paid first! But I have bought Green and Black's butterscotch milk chocolate which is £1.33 at Waitrose. It is so nice... My plan to have 2 squares mysteriously changed to half a packet :T They also had Rachel's organic yogurts, which are aimed at children for 49p yellow stickered which appealed to my inner child! They were nice too... Not to sweet which suited me more than DH who has a sweeter tooth.

Start with the essentials like chocolate hey! Wine next I think them all major food groups are covered :rotfl:

:hello: Dozey crow well done you :T when you buy the organic wine please review because I'm not sure anyone has ever done that on the thread and it is sometimes possible to get organic wine on offer.

The Waitrose offer on Green & Black's chocolate ends on 08/10. Normal price at Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Ocado is £2 for a 100g bar. Sainsbury's has them on offer at 1.50 until 24/09 and Ocado at 2 for £3 at the moment.

If you can get to an ASDA, the 100g bars are always 1.50 but while you're there, the ASDA Extra Special Fairtrade Dominican Republic organic 70% cocoa dark chocolate (with or without cocoa nibs but these add a crunchy texture) is only £1 for 100g ;)

Have to say I'm not a fan of Green & Black's chocolate but big fan of the Green & Black's chocolate ice cream - to me it's the most chocolatey ice cream available. OH and mother hooked on it :D

Sainsbury's sells 500ml for 4.69 , Tesco, Waitrose, Ocado for 4.49. Offers at the moment - Ocado £3, Waitrose 2.24 to 08/10 and Tesco £3 to 14/10. I'd love to stockpile some for Christmas but OH pigs it :(

Yogurt.. as mentioned on the take your lunch to work thread, I think some of these yogurts are expensive. Some of them can be £2 for 450g. If I can find a cheaper natural yogurt eg 1.30 for 500g Sainsbury's SO organic, I'm thinking of buying organic fruit puree from Ella's Kitchen The Purple One when on offer and giving it to OH to stir in. ;)

Obviouslyif I can get more 20p yellow stickered raspberries I'd make my own. Don't have a big enough garden to grow soft fruit myself :(

TanH says that Waitrose has the sharing bags of additive free Kettle Chips 2 for £2..

Granovita organic vegetarian Herb pate, 200g 2.39, Holland and Barrett.. soo not worth it, totally bland :( Going to give it to OH to stick slices of cheese to his rolls.
