Organic food in supermarkets

NZ has alway be so anti GM and so particular what is fetched into country I am so suprised.
I only Buy NZ lamb,Apples kiwi fruit as much as we can find they taste so much tastier we do have soft spot as lived there for 6 months:-)

Sainsbury's SO organic free range British pork sausages £3 for 6 so 50p a sausage..

95% pork so no shrinkage, the antioxidant used is ascorbic acid aka vitamin C and no nitrates. For low carbers they are 0.9g carbs per 100g and on the traffic light system they get an amber for salt and green for sugar.

oh and they taste great

Anyone tried the Villa Organic Mozzarella £1.99 from Ocado? Unusual to find an organic one that is vegetarian.

or the Biona organic coconut palm sugar £3?

I've had the Villa organic Mozzarella and it's absolutely fine but I prefer the Brescia one (Abel & Cole, Planet Organic) even to Laverstoke Park and Galbani.

I'll try it next order - I think all the other ones are non veggie
Actually, I think the VO one is the only veggie one I've seen.

Well, I hope this post informing you of myself trying, slowly but surely, some Organic food because of all the information in this thread, will make your day today too.

I'm wondering if my bodies poor reaction to wheat may be any different if I had organic Weetabix? I'm going to buy some to try out whilst my financial situation isn't too bad.

Worst case scenario is that it won't make a difference, but someone else can then eat the organic Weetabix!

There was a link - not sure if on here or one I found on the web of the things to buy organic first as they have the most pesticides in non organic - think apples was top, but alot of the fruits I buy were in that list!

Coffee, ( and er yes it's organic), and as OH is drilling holes in back door for brass bolt and cussing I'm staying away and so this is the ideal opportunity to comment on posts.

alandbailey well done on the tasty eggs.. eggs are a big part of my diet so I'm really fussy about 'em just like that farmer ! My top 2 would be Abel & Cole organic free range and Daylesford organic free range from Ocado. I don't think my garden is big enough for chickens really As a teenager I had geese as pets though and they were fun

bornintoit I bet the arrival of Waitrose does dent Ocado sales but it will also depend on how big a range your local Waitrose has. Even though the Waitrose in the next town to me is small, it does all the deliveries locally, so Ocado gives me a much better choice of Waitrose products. Maybe Waitrose is trialling expansion into your area and that's why slots are limited ?

Miroslav if you can buy the organic Weetabix from ASDA you will save 41p on the Tesco, Ocado and Waitrose price - Sainsbury's is next cheapest at 2.99. At Sainsbury's, I've found gluten free organic stuff in the free from section, which might help you - look out for Doves Farm (also seen them on Ocado). Also, have you tried spelt ?

Welsh Poppy I'm converted to NZ lamb but I get apples from my mother's garden and at previous house had them myself.

Anyone else had the pea, mint and courgette tarts from Abel & Cole ? Had them at Christmas and liked them but the ones we had yesterday seemed really eggy, sort of scrambled egg-taste with loads of peas and no courgette

Reading some of the information on this thread has been really interesting (I've not gone through the whole 90+ pages, but will do at some point).

Whilst we've (me and my OH) bought organic in the past - using Abel and Cole, until this weekend where we watched some documentaries on food, we hadn't looked too much into what we bought at the supermarket especially meat and poultry.

Can anyone recommend what is good/ not good for all things meat and poultry related.

What do people think of the tea from Teapigs?
