Organic food in supermarkets

They do have shops afaik? There is one shop on site at the farm as well as the field kitchen I believe? and 3 more shops further away, though think they are run by the brother of the one who runs the farm? I was going to visit when down that way but didn't get chance.
I actually thought it seemed quite good value in the boxes! though guess it depends what it's being compared with?
Not in my farm - I asked when I went to look for a shop. There are 4 Riverford farms and this one is in Cambrigdeshire and delivers to local area and all Midlands.
I do quite well with YS shopping so might be looking unfavourably at true box value being long time spoiled by very good bargains locally. In example - just back from evening stroll(read YS shopping at Waitrose, M&S and Tesco) with 4 punnets of organic blueberries for £0.44 each. I was only the one who wanted blueberries(and there were loads) - everyone else went for pasties and other rubbish stuff...0 -
Ah yes sorry, thought you meant THE farm ie the Devon ones.
Must admit I hardly every go YS shopping as hard to get organic or specific stuff I want but will always have a look if I go in an actual supermarket (that is getting rarer these days though!). Waitrose reduced is always great quality if they have it, M&S seem to have so little organic and I tend to avoid Tesco.0 -
This I why I worry about the boxes, I have two children so need to make sure I have enough food in the fridge for a week and shopping organic in Waitrose means I know exactly how many apples and pears etc i will have in each bag if that makes sense. Even if I ordered a family box I think I would be running short of stuff during week, does this happen to anyone with children?0

Has anyone read Jessica Alba's book The Honest Life? It looks interesting but wondered if anyone else had any opinions on it.'Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves'0

You can always order extras of anything you use a lot of on top of the box?
If anything, though I'm not buying for a family, I find I have way more in with a box than I would buy in a supermarket.0 -

The actress ? A long way back I posted a video interview up with her and Wall Street Journal - seems sincere to me. Haven't read the book tho as I don't have kids.
I never bother looking for organic YS because it's so rare to find anything. I get OH a small fruit bag from Riverford and he loves them. Lidl is usually the cheapest for organic Fairtrade bananas.
Just had a couple of small A&C globe artichokes for lunch mmmm
Didn't like the Riverford ones and my runner beans from them were tougher than shoe leather but mine should be ready very soon0 -

I have looked at the contents list on amazon and there is a baby chapter which says "Preparing for parenthood" which is about nappies etc. I am a mum but my son is nearly 5 so I doubt that chapter would be useful for me either.
She does put in the introduction that there is plenty for people who don't have children also. I think it I ever see it on offer then I would be tempted to purchase it. I think the general vibe of it is something I am very interested in.
I know what you mean about Organic YS, if I am in a supermarket I will look at the reduced section not expecting anything but I have picked up reduced organic before so I feel it's worth a look.
I have had a phone call today inviting me to a job interview. I am chuffed, nervous but chuffed!'Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves'0 -
For anyone over in SW London, Whole Foods in Richmond is finally opening in October
Good luck with the i/v Bornintoit, it's an achievement to even get i/v's these days!0 -
Way to go bornintoit :T
Holland and Barrett banner flashed up on me while browsing this morning so I just nipped in to say some stuff appears to be BOGOF.0 -
Thanks. I'll let you all know how it goes either way. It has boosted my self esteem having just got an interview. Like you say Kirri it is diffcult to get to that stage nowadays. When I was a teenager I used to pretty much just walk into jobs or so it seemed, I already got an interview. Sadly it just hasn't been working out for me in more recent times but hoping I'm on the up!
Does anyone use Dr Organic products? I can see a long list of ingredients that I don't understand if I'm honest. Is Dr Organic all it seems?'Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves'0
