Is that the one just outside Kew Gardens Station? If so, I go there occasionally too. Only three stops on the overground for me. :)

    Yep that's the one :D

Soil Association hits out at EU organic consultation

This ^ makes me laugh because until I emailed them the day I found out about the consultation, the Soil Association knew nothing about it. I'm certainly not aware of any mobilising of support for organic food from the Soil Association.

After reading the article from The Grocer re: the pesticide there's a questionnaire you can still fill in online until Wednesday.

Reading backwards.. is this the same Alara that makes the muesli brand ? http://www.alara.co.uk/

As soon as the weather warms up a bit and I've started mes plantes, I'm going to get on a train and raid Whole Foods Market :D < I need a dirtier more evil smile really> I have warned OH :D

Dunno about Kensington it's a bit of a trek. How big is the Glasshouse St one, anyone know ? I could call into F&M too ;) Alara doesn't look far from St Pancras if I choose to go that way

sophlowe45 you deserve a medal for reading all that. I had no idea that this thread would grow to over 70 pages and I'm frightened to go back and add links on the first page in case the whole thread disappears !!

Re: olive oil, I grow olives, only had one ripe one from three trees so far ! I use Borges organic EV which I buy when its half price in Morrisons, for cooking. You just don't get the PGI or PDO stuff in supermarkets.

This looks to be quite useful

There are cheaper varieties as well. I do not usually spend that money myself on e.v. oil, but this one has an extraordinary taste and I only use it occasionally in salads. For other uses I have a cheaper one, still organic though.

    EDITED for an inconsistency.

Yes do a day trip to London Edwardia. Bring a suitcase for all the food you will end up buying lol.

I need to carry on reading the thread Edwardia, I had Ocado open on one tab and was typing items in I was reading about on this thread like Taifun Organic Tofu.

I noticed that Biona, Clearspring and Organico do Olive oils too. I think it was one third off the Organico one recently, not 100% sure though.

I want to get a good balsamic vinegar too, did you know they add colourings to the cheaper versions? :(

I am really liking Biona cider vinegar, unfiltered, unpasturised and oak matured. I hope its lasts once opened though? it will last me for months.

Kale dried flakes, on my shopping list.

I have never been to the Glasshouse Street one, i wasn't aware they had a branch there. In my opinion avoid areas like Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus, they are so busy! And getting onto the tube with your heavy bags! I don't know how you would manage. Unless you are making a special trip to F&M, Royal Academy of Arts etc, I would not go to such busy areas.

That's a clever idea, I've bever thought of having an Ocado window open as I read webpages/threads although I often juggle Ocado, Riverford and Abel & Cole when doing online orders to make sure I get the best price ;)

The Taifun organic tofu with basil is gorgeous and won an award last year I think.

I'm not surprised by the balsamic vinegar, I'd suggest buying PDO or IGP to make sure you get the real thing.

Re: vinegar I don't think it ever really goes off because you can make vinegar yourself with a 'mother'. Plus as you can use it for cleaning, I doubt bacteria would live in it. My cyder vinegar (Aspalls) would probably not last 6 months before it was gone but the white wine vinegar would. I know my malt vinegar is older than 6 months and the distilled malt in 5 LTR containers which we use for cleaning floorboards are probably over 2 yrs old now.

I don't like Oxford Circus but used to work in the St James's area. I was a Friend of the RA at one point. I lurve F&M and Paxton & Whitfield because they are so historic.

I know my mother woud love to go but she would spend all day tut-tutting at prices and I'd have to carry all the shopping. Whereas at least OH commutes every day so he can guide me round and carry the shopping as well as charm all the shop assistants. Very charming man my OH ;)
