Unless you only eat 100% organic and never eat out and never travel/eat abroad then I'd eat it..
Given all the delivery issues everyone has been having this week, I hope my A&C order turns up in the morning!
If a company doesn't refund or replace damaged items I don't usually use them again. So far I've been happy with customer service of companies I've used.0 -
Are there any brands who do not use glucose fructose syrup, fructose, sugar in their ingredients?
Sacla pestos quite a few have sugar or fructose so I found some alternative Reflets de France pestos on Ocado.
I have been eating Sacla pestos for years without realising.
But some of Reflets de France range has glucose fructose syrup in it, which makes me mistrust the rest of the range.
I have noticed I use a lot less ketchup now I have switched to Mr Organics ketchup as it is 80% tomatoes and Heinz ketchup now tastes really sugary to me.0 -

I use this pesto (it's a vegan organic one I get in an organic shop) seems sugar less?

Glucose-fructose syrup used to be banned by the EU, I remember Dr Lustig telling me in an email that only EU and Australia had banned it. That was about two years ago and it's certainly being snuck into food now
Heinz uses it.
If you want to know why it's bad and learn more than you ever wanted to know but should about sugar

I bought OH a mortar and pestle and he can make pesto himself now. You just need olive oil, garlic, pine nuts, basil, parmigiano reggiano, sea salt if you want.
Definitely NOT potatoes, potato starch, rice starch, apple vinegar, ascorbic acid, lactic acid, cashew nuts, sunflower oil, lysozyme, grana padamo. pecorino romano, pecorino sardo, rice flour, garlic powder, sulphur dioxide, lime juice, lemon juice, water, mustard seeds (unless doing own variant), black pepper (ditto), cashew nut flour eww
I'm suffering from additive overload just looking at that load eww
OH had gotten sea bream fillets out of the freezer and was advocating serving them up pan-fried with boiled peas and carrots for dinner  I suggested a fish pie.
He grated organic Farmhouse Cheddar (Lidl), boiled and mashed organic Jerusalem artichokes (Ocado) and mixed together as the topping. The sea bream fillets (Ocado offer) poached in a bit of organic whole milk (Abel & Cole) with organic leeks (ASDA). Cute teeny organic sweet peppers (Riverford) and organic onions (Morrisons) with organic garlic (Morrisons) and organic cherry tomatoes (Ocado offer) sweated while the artichokes boiled. Layered, topping on, in oven and was am.az.ing. :T Husband can cook when he can be bothered :rotfl:0 -
Morning all!
What a shocking week for deliveries - but I'm truly excited for my A&C delivery today as the fridge is bare
I've had a 2 great deliveries this week - a Donald Russell meat one with a great offer from Good Food Magazine, and some store cupboard bits and bobs from Goodness Direct, again with a decent discount code from a fitness magazine. Can I post codes on here or should I pop them on the discounts board?
The DR one was for a Traditional Steak selection with mince, sausages, stewing steak strips, steak burgers, pave steaks, sirloin steaks and rump steaks all for £29 delivered. Super quality and perfectly delivered. It is advertised in this months Good Food magazine.
Goodness direct was for £10 discount off £35 which also meant free delivery too. Got some organic raisins, Marigold Organic Bouillion, some organic muesli, and other snacky bits. Came very quickly too!:j
Abel and Cole remain utterly brilliant, having sent me a free marmalade last week, and their free range pork I ordered was divine. :T
Thanks for all the ingredient info on the thread - it show that labels really do need reading doesn't it? I need to taste test some ketchups I think.
And finally, we've discovered Duchy Organic Whole Milk from Waitrose which reminds me of milk we used to have as a child. It even has cream rising to the top - yum. My tribe now fight for who gets to open the bottle! (We ran out early this week as I had not ordered enough from A&C - will now combine having both). It was a good price too as the big 2+L bottles are 2 for £3 in Waitrose.
Hope Fab Food Friday lives up to its name for everyone, and not more dodgy deliveries

I do want to try GD - but do they let you know what day delivery is expected?
I LOVE the A&C freebies, trouble is I get disappointed on the week I don't get one now! They know how to get a customer hooked..Definitely NOT potatoes, potato starch, rice starch, apple vinegar, ascorbic acid, lactic acid, cashew nuts, sunflower oil, lysozyme, grana padamo. pecorino romano, pecorino sardo, rice flour, garlic powder, sulphur dioxide, lime juice, lemon juice, water, mustard seeds (unless doing own variant), black pepper (ditto), cashew nut flour eww
I really need to investigate sugar addiction, I am really bad when it comes to sugary foods..
Do you have something against cashew nuts in pesto??!
The vegan one I have uses nuts instead of cheese and admittedly I didn't realise it was vegan when I had it the first time. Also I make a basil one myself with cashews and again no cheese (DMail weekend recipe) that I love.***cupcake*** wrote: »http://www.amazon.co.uk/Billingtons-Organic-granulated-Sugar-Pack/dp/B009F7KJLE/ref=sr_1_2?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1365143044&sr=1-2&keywords=Billingtons

I've been using the Billingtons icing sugar ^ for ages, though it is non org I believe but I love the golden aspect of it - I got the Suma organic one from A&C the other week, not tried it yet though but it is white again and I'm now so used to the golden look..
Good price on the sugar.0 -
No Fab Food Friday for me today because I forgot to do a Riverford order
If I'm lucky I'll get my organic tanning lotion though
Kirri - I don't have anything against cashew nuts as I eat them, just that they aren't authentic in pesto. It's like buying houmous made with sunflower oil.
***cupcake*** I don't know what the etiquette is on posting codes up on threads, I have to say - does anyone else know ?
My New Year's Resolution was to use more alternative sources for food. So far in four months I've added Riverford and Holland & Barrett to A&C and Ocado and I should be doing better
Sainsbury's and Tesco organic tea bags have both been put down to £2 but Morrisons and ASDA are cheaper at around 1.83 I think.
So which next. Goodness Direct, Ethical Superstore, Planet Organic ?
Abel & Cole organic mayo is the only one I've found so far, which doesn't include sugar in the list of ingredients. It doesn't taste as good as Hellmanns but it's got a flavour of its' own and goes really well with globe artichokes.0
