Out of interest I costed this up for organic and non organic at Tosco and Ocado based on equivalent/weights amounts etc.
Organic
Tosco £27.61, Ocado £29.03
Non organic
Tosco £18.63, Ocado £20.34
By buying value produce and utilising offers you may save a bit more at Ts but I'd say you got value.
Ocado has an offer on their boxes and the large box is currently £17.60
Ooops just realised I forgot the bananas so those costs exclude them.:o
wow some great effort there, thankyou
That suits me fine as i don't mind paying a little more for the organic anyway. Will give ocado a try next i think-see which i like best.0 -
Riverford order this morning included Riverford butternut squash and bacon chowder which we're having for late lunch and veggie burgers which have gone in the freezer. Chowder was very thick and smokey bacony, OH lurves it and wants for lunches. reckons it will do him two. Might buy some and freeze.
Last night we did imam bayildi but added some of the organic Neal's Yard Wholefoods nuts from H&B and they are pretty good. We had some Riverford creme fraiche to use up so dolloped on top - the clotted cream isn't good but the creme fraiche is excellent
Kirri - my local Wilkinson is smallest I've ever been in so they don't have anywhere near like the full range but luckily I got washing up liquid and fabric conditioner on offer from Ocado.
I'm wondering whether short/long dates difference between Brown Cow and Yeo Valley yogurts has anything to do with pasteurisation/homogenisation or microfiltering of the milk before it's made into yogurt ????
OH has managed to erect one of the mini greenhouses I bought in sale at Wilkinsons two years ago :rotfl:
Ecover have some competitions runing see www.The-Splash.co.uk/win
High Weald Dairy Sussex Slipcote sheeps' milk cheese...mmmmmm.. really creamy but tangy, kind of like Boursin but better.0 -
Yes, it must be something like that with the yoghurts ^ so the BC ones would be better if it's that but I'd have to eat them so quick..
Got everything from A&C this week, didn't have Riverford today as well. I think I like Riverford more but A&C have better things to draw the customers in, like freebies, better policy on refunds for damaged items, better choice.. hmm think I will still switch between the two.
The white choc buttons on A&C are gorgeous.. got the small veg box for £10 which actually had quite a bit in, all looks very fresh. Got bananas and oranges, just the smaller amounts and had 7 of each turn up. Few other bits and pieces for the fridge and cupboard too.
Not quite sure what to do with my free milk as I don't normally drink milk. Could do pancakes but I have no lemons.
Trying to decide which box to get next week - so many decisions!0 -
After I get my A&C order Monday I have to arrange another order to be delivered c/o my mother's address for Good Friday and skip the following Monday...soo as I will be A&C milk and egg-less for a week I had to book an Ocado order over Easter to make sure I get Calon Wen milk and Daylesford eggs ..phew it's complicated.
Had a look at the comps and there are fridges, RHS memberships/tickets, hampers from Cafe Direct and Jordans and Ecover products up for grabs.
There was a link to https://www.ecoverdirect.com and there's a 3 for 2 on laundry products ATM and it ends on 11th April. Orders over £50 get free UK shipping too.
Also special pack products combos

Re Riverford - this is my pet moan at the moment
I wanted to place an order with Riverford and it included a few sausages. Generally we eat veggie at home with some chicken, but if we get a visitor at weekends we may treat them to bacon and sausages........ so a few is ok. Riverford state I have to spend £25 on meat in order to order any at all. Thats crazy. Its been years since I spent that much on meat! My order was above £50 and thats now an order they wont be getting.
Back to A&C

sams247 Riverford say it's because they have to use special packaging.
I can see their point because my Riverford order turns up in a cardboard box whereas the chilled stuff from A&C arrives in a cool (wool) box.
This got me thinking about milk, cream etc from Riverford in summer because the van which delivers to me doesn't look refrigerated whereas the A&C one def is.
I agree though that it doesn't encourage you to order meat/products when you have to do an order like that, I always like to try things, start with small order and get bigger.0 -

Extra Special Selected by Leith's School of Food and Wine exclusively at ASDA 70% cocoa solids Dominican Republic organic dark chocolate. £1
I find it too sweet but nice flavour. OH likes the flavour too says it reminds him of Bournville. For people who like dark chocolate but not bitter, I think it's a bargain for £10 -

The Riverford meat also comes in a wool cool box I believe (my mum had an order and looked the same box??).
I agree I'd rather try things in smaller quantities. A&C deliver chilled items in those boxes so can't see why Riverford can't bring it down to say £10 ish worth.
I do think that A&C will get more orders from me, especially if I'm out working, due to their chilled boxes. I believe Riverford sell things to keep items cool that customers would then have to put out ready. For me the convenience of knowing with A&C I wouldn't have to faff before rushing off to work would win my order.
The A&C orders come very chilled, ie even the veg. Can't recall how cold my Riverford orders were now but don't think as much, will see next time.0
