Evidently Aldi introduced an own brand organic range called Simply Nature, back in September in its' American stores.

I don't live really near an Aldi store, if anyone does, could you please post whether they have any organic food ? Thanks !

Trader Joe's www.traderjoes.com isn't actually organic but all its' own brand products are free from artificial colorings, preservatives, flavorings, MSG, GMO and have no added trans fats. Additionally, own brand products are labelled if gluten free, fat free, kosher, vegan, vegetarian and if they contain sodium.

Whole Foods Market www.wholefoodsmarket.com now has 270 stores across USA, Canada and UK - mostly in London.

According to www.coolspotters.com 78 celebs have been papped shopping at Whole Foods including Rihanna, Alexander Skarsgard, Anna Paquin, Liam Hemsworth, Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning, Ashley Greene, Michael Sheen, Jamie Campbell-Bower. Jared Leto, Lindsay Lohan, Taylor Swift, Emily Blunt, Halle Berry, Lara Stone, Kourtney Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, Lady GaGa, Vanessa Hudgens, Reese Witherspoon, Pink, Drew Barrymore, Rupert Friend, Shia LeBoeuf, Hayden Christensen, Avril Lavigne, Charlize Theron... who knew that some of these ate so healthy huh ?

Wal-Mart www.walmart.com parent company of ASDA has lots of stores stateside and is developing organic own brand products. There are 107 other organic products online which can be ordered by the case. Ashley Greene is one of the few celebs to get papped at Wal-Mart.

Bristol Farms www.bristolfarms.com is a foodie chain in California with celebrity shoppers including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Winona Ryder, Annette Benning, Halle Berry, Kate Bosworth, Alexander Skarsgard and Jessica Biel.

Kroger www.kroger.com is a standard supermarket chain with an own brand organic range Simply Truth and over 2000 stores m\king it the biggest in USA.

Aldi www.aldi.com has over 1000 stores in the US and an organic range called Simply Nature.

The Delhaize Group (originally Belgian) has over 1000 stores under five brands including Food Lion so I haven't bothered working out which ones do own brand organic.

Safeway www.safeway.com has over 1000 stores plus more under another seven brands. The own brand organic range is called Safeway O and it's the best selling own brand organic range in USA.

SuperValu Inc has twelve brands so again I haven't bothered looking up which do own brand organic.

Target www.target.com is a smaller national cheapie which doesn't seem to do own brand organic but does sell both online and in store.

In addition to these, there are over 150 regional chains of supermarkets. For these I would suggest Googling the ones you see/hear of in the region you are visiting. Some have really bizarre names, eg PigglyWiggly.

My OH is not a morning person and gets up to commute to London at the last possible moment, consequently missing breakfast. He does a lot of MBWA (Management By Walking About) and often missed out lunch as well. He would arrive home cranky and starving at 7pm so we decided to try an experiment.

£2 a day ie £10 a week budget for breakfast and lunch and as much organic as poss.

It was a tad expensive to start from scratch with organic Weetabix, organic corn flakes and organic instant porridge, Bonne Maman jam, organic Lurpak spreadable, Hayward's piccalilli, Branston pickle, Maille Dijon mustard, Moo organic UHT milk etc.

But I'm pleased to report that once set up though, it is working really well.

He gets cheese wholemeal rolls from local shop a couple of times a week, plus organic cheeses on offer and small YS blocks of cheese. Gherkins from Lidl. Organic grissini.

Heinz soups, spaghetti and pasta pouch meals on offer. Heinz organic cream of tomato soup and organic baked beans. Kraft Dinner macaroni cheese. Organic noodles.Suma organic tinned food, ditto Biona and Geo Organics - things like dhal, curry, Bombay potatoes, vegetable hotpot. Organic boil in the bag rice.

Organic cherry and Heirloom tomatoes, organic bananas and pears, organic carrot sticks, organic grapes on offer. Tinned sweetcorn.

Organic rice pudding, organic carrot cake, organic biscuits, organic tea bags and UHT milk.

Result is happier husband who looks a lot healthier ! Plus because he eats his carbs during the day he can eat low carb higher protein meals for dinner with me and lots of veggies.

And I manage to keep to budget :)

londoncakes, you're right, I read an article that said before the 1950s most everything we ate was organic.

I had my quarterly diabetes review today and my doctor said that as my liver enzymes were normalising this summer he wouldn't bother with a liver function test since after losing more than a stone (14lbs) he thinks they should be normal.

They started normalising really quickly after I went organic and he agrees that my theory seems logical ie that it's the liver which processes all the chemicals so take away the chemicals and hopefully taking the pressure off helps.

I find your story really inspiring. I have decided to try and go all organic by March and also lower my carb intake.

I meant it. I do have a high carb non-organic dry food stockpile that I need to get through first though as I do not want to waste it by throwing it away especially as money is quite tight at present. Thats why I have chose March as I think that should be all gone by then. I have noticed your "organic primal" signature. I have been listening to and researching the primal blueprint and I quite like that idea. It seems to make sense to me. I have ordered some organic foods such as meat yogurt milk vegetables as that is not food I stockpile (apart from a chicken I have in the freezer for Christmas) so I can go organic with that straight away I have kept the cost down by buying cheaper cuts of meat and the milk and yogurt etc were not much more expensive than non-organic so it isn't really costing me anymore than usual.

Ok I have just realised I am blabbering on now so I'll leave it at that for now :)
