Organic food in supermarkets

Yup I'm following a primal/paleo-low carb-organic way of eating but I do think that organic dairy IS a good food group. In fact a Canadian research doctor gave me the tip to eat live yogurt for my diabetes. I get through averagely 1kg Yeo Valley organic live natural yoghurt a week.
A lot of the people on https://www.marksdailyapple.com who eschew dairy do it because American non-organic milk can contain growth hormones, which is why American milk is banned in the EU. It seems to me that a lot of the people who fuss about butter from grass-fed cows and go nutz over Kerrygold are missing the point that in winter cows live indoors and non-organic cows can be fed feed containing genetically modified soya and corn.
If you're interested, have a look at Dr Robert Lustig's YouTube videos from the University of California about why we get fat and his classic Sugar: The Bitter Truth vid which is a bit technical but eye opening and has had more than 2 million hits. Also videos by Gary Taubes. I'd recommend his books too, your local library might have at least one of them.0 -
When I was diagnosed with diabetes I couldn't understand why health care professionals kept telling me to eat carbs. I only had to test my blood glucose to see it shooting up after anything carby. Being an ex-chef I remembered from college that sugar and carbs convert to glucose and that any unused glucose is stored as fat.
That's why I started digging and found Dr Lustig and Gary Taubes and without them I'd be in a bad way.
There are thousands probably millions of people like me, who have lost a lot of weight without being on an actual diet, improved their diabetes a heck of a lot if they have it and improved other health markers like cholesterol by eating fewer carbs and more low carb veg, fat and protein.
It's a myth that low carbing is all about stuffing pounds of bacon and big slabs of steak every meal, it doesn't have to be like that at all. :rotfl:
I do feel that low carbing and going organic have really helped me a LOT and my GP is really pleased because my blood tests show him the results.
Changing your way of eating isn't always easy but if it gets the results in terms of improved health or weight loss or both, then personally I feel it's worth it.0 -

Thank you for the videos I found the second one especially helpful. I went to ASDA this morning and managed to catch the reduction lady and got organic beef mince reduced to £2.71 she only had the one organic product to reduce so was very happy that I was the one to get it

I don't know when it started to be honest bornintoit, but I have found that the website is so big it can be quite a task to wade through pages of offers. I think I ordered Thursday but I didnt get text until this morning saying all of the order was in stock. There would be no point me mentioning the offer if it was out of stock.
Well done on the YS mince. My local ASDA doesn't even stock organic meat or poultry
I get ASDA organic Extra Virgin olive oil as it's usually the cheapest own brand and I think the ASDA organic tinned tomatoes are pretty good too. The fish counter at my local store sometimes has organic salmon fillets 2 for £4 which I think is good and I shove them in the freezer.0 -

I saw in ASDA organic whole chicken diced beef and beef mince so not exactly a large selection.
My local Sainsburys used to have a good range of organic beef and chicken including thighs legs etc but now they don't. They still have Helen Browning organic bacon.
I will probably use ocado alot more as I don't drive so don't have the time or inclination to be trawling round several supermarkets the ASDA I went to today is about a 45 minute walk in itself.'Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves'0
