The ones with the Abel & Cole logo, Kirri - my mother ran off with the catalogue as well as my A&C cookbook
I've only bought the Pegoty Hedge ones for OH from either A&C or Ocado. I called up the Pegoty Hedge farmer and chatted to him as wellI'm surprised that there's no statement on the website actually. A&C doesn't seem very forthcoming.
Coughalot aka OH declined to make a managerial decision on sheets so I've got his card and instructions to buy what I want.Wonder if Ethical Superstore does sheets....
Kirri look away now..
I am being tantalised by Daylesford organic boned rolled shoulder of lamb (Ocado offer a few weeks ago hehe) which has been slow-roasted since 4pm and I'm feeling soo hungry now
Kirri you can look now but not at ^ We went to Trashco Express this afternoon. Nothing organic except Hipp baby food and Green & Black's Easter eggs. Innocent pots were on offer and the Indian one wasn't too carby either but you need a microwave. Methinks them a massive waste of space just so I can have hot chocolate in 2 mins
I picked up 'Ideal Home' and got a free flexible spatula. Probably more interesting were the catalogues from House of Fraser, Debenhams and B&Q. The Debenhams one gave me a 20% off voucher and a 10% off so maybe I should look there for sheets..0 -
Yep, was the ones I thought, 11 in total but 2 affected. Comments on the wall seem to indicate as I feel and you say, A&C not being very forthcoming. I would have expected to receive an email as well even though I didn't order any. Not good decision on their part given it's going to get talked about anyway.
Not sure re sheets stockists but I've had organic towels for years now (all ordered online). Not seen org sheets in my local Debenhams.
Aw I was watching the lambs on Countryfile earlier
Glad to say I just had organic Riverford cauli in Cropwell Bishop stilton and hm bread with organic Shipton Mill flour - followed by a couple of hm biscuits and an A&C banana.
I saw an organic vegan easter egg on Animal Aid's shop yesterday, by Moo free, think Moo free vegan choc is also stocked in some supermarkets but I didn't realise they did organic.
I threw out my parents' microwave many years ago when I decided it wasn't a good thing to have... haven't used/owned one since. I have a frother whisk and a frother pot for my hot choc0 -

I use ASDA Organics which are 75p for a 400g tin both whole and chopped in tomato juice. Tesco does organic chopped tomatoes in tomato juice 400g tetrapaks for 76p but not tried these.
Alternatively, why not use passata ?

Edwardia, thanks for the list. You're right of course, I could use passata instead of tinned toms in lots of dishes, just doesn't always occur to me!0 -

Edwardia, Tks for posting this. Waitrose always seem to be out of the one herb or spice I really want when I'm shopping there. The staff always offer to 'check the stockroom' for me but have never yet found anything that wasn't already on the shopfloor! I will keep stocking up as I and when I see things. At least these items generally have long use by dates.0 -

I was really surprised to see the A&C story yesterday - saw a news item online but couldn't check details as was out of range of t'internet. Having read more now, I'm also very surprised they haven't sent anything out to customers to explain/reassure.
As a veggie and non-purchaser of this type of pre-prepared meal the incident doesn't affect me per se. It does make me wonder though about the wider organic/free range/ethical picture and whether the retailers I choose to buy from because of their stance on such issues can still be relied in 100 per cent. I thought one of the main tenets of such companies was that they have very short supply chains and can be absolutely certain of their sources.0 -
Also veggie here and I don't tend to buy ready made items, not if I can make it myself but I may have been tempted on the odd occasion to buy something read made - so I'm probably more shocked about a supplier like A&C that things were not checked more - at least with Riverford I believe ready made items are all made in the Riverford kitchen whereas A&C buy everything in. There's always room for someone to be dishonest but I hope in choosing org food that the risks of this are lower as a lot of the people involved are into the same ethics as the consumers.0
