It would be easier for Dad to remember.
Well for easiness to remember I bought my own domain for my main email address, firstname@myname.co.uk. Couldn't be easier to remember."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Is it as straight forward as it sounds? I could dial in on his behalf every 60 days but could he still use this email address on broadband?
yes...I used to do it when on another isp, he justs to need to use the NEW isp's outgoing server e.g.
incoming server mail.btinternet.com
outgoing server(if for example using Virgin) mail.virginmail.com (or whatever their servers are)Ex forum ambassador

Can I ask how do you do that and how much does it cost?0 -
not strictly true....downgrade the account to PAYG, then dial in every 60 days to check emails via Btinternets servers
5p every 60 days !!
this is very true.
But he has to check the email through the bt dialup number at least every 60 days but can check his email any other time via broadband.0 -

Have I got this correct, I/Dad telephone BT and tell them he/I want to downgrade to PAYG and make sure I/he sign in every 60 days. I sign Dad up for an email address with another company and get their outgoing and incoming servers? Dad can than check his emails while on broadband.0 -
does not even need to sign up for the other compamies email address, , just change the outgoing server settings in Outlook Express to the new ISPEx forum ambassador

ISP's stop you sending emails from their servers unless you log on via their Network to stop spammersEx forum ambassador

no...even easier if he just accesses Webmail via Internet Explorer....nothing needs changing at all !!
just dial in for him every 60 days (think they send a warning before they de-activate the account if you forget )Ex forum ambassador
