When did i say you personally had complained about the G300. I believe it was smithers who stated he'd be glad when they stopped making the G300 as it's highly recommended on this forum.

My Desire is 22 months old, it still got its original battery and going strong.
It actually runs Jelly Bean as I rooted it. Storage space isn't a problem as you can fool the phone when rooted to use the SD Card memory, so with a 8GB memory card space isn't a problem. For such an old model, it does well against phones today.

Rooting a Desire is actually pretty easy now, if you want to do this to get the latest software or solve the internal memory problems send me a PM and I direct you to the places for the tools.
