Original HTC Desire

Thinking of getting a HTC Desire they are going for around £60-£70 second hand, my question is what are they like to live with, I only need it for calls/text/camera/gps and occasional internet browsing.
So is it worth buying or is there an alternative?

I still rock my Desire and it still does everything I need. I have it running Ice Cream Sandwich so it has most of the new features of Android and the Camera is much better than on the stock ROMS.

G300 is an alternative, more internal storage.

I had one of these and had no end of problems with it, my girlfriend got one about 6 months after mine and now hers is playing up.

Personally i wouldnt get another one.

I had one for about 18 months, and it was great for what I needed it for, except for the fact that the internal storage is really low, so I couldn't have all the apps I wanted. I know if you root it, it solves the problem, but I'm not that tech savvy do didn't want to risk damaging it.

  • Motherboards in them are fragile, I wouldn't bother.

Used to have lots of returns of this handset

    How have you managed that?

I have constant problems with internal storage filling up and I've had the phone for about 2 and a half years .

I'm guessing you've rooted it to be able to do what you're doing?

  • So the main problem is the internal storage, if I dont need alot of apps is this still going to be a problem?

Doing a direct comparison with my wife's HTC Desire and my Huawei G300, I would suggest looking at the G300, particularly if you can get it for this kind of price: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4165069

I've had mine since just after they came out and I've generally been happy with it. However, I am planning to upgrade very soon as the internal storage is simply insufficient. No matter how many apps I move to external storage, I seem like I'm constantly struggling because of the ones that can't be moved.

It was a good phone for its time but time has moved on...
