What's your pet hate about comping?

This has to be my ultimate pet hate of comping.... Flash banner ads that extend down the whole length of each side of the page (just like the one's on here). They totally freeze my browser whilst they load....and then once they are loaded they make everything go slow.
I know I could get an adblocker but quite often using an adblocker interferes with comping (as some comps feature on an advert).:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0 -

Have you trialled an Adblocker to see what happens? I run one and I don't think I've ever been prevented from entering a competition. What I do get is nice, still, peaceful pages0 -

So it isn't people selling a prize, but rather openly admitting to doing that? I guess you would prefer it if we did it behind closed doors with our heads bowed in shameAs to why some of us do this, I think I can answer that one for you: it's for the money. I enter comps for things I want and also for some things to sell on. I've even occasionally won something I want, but sold it anyway. It's what you do when you're broke, and I thought it was better than mugging people or drug dealing.

I find it a convoluted way of working. Isn't it easier to just bookmark threads?
I subscribe to threads occasionally so that I can get an email when someone adds to it. It saves me having to keep checking it. I also subscribe to the puzzle and TAB threads, just because when I don't have time to do much comping, having a subscription prompts me to keep up with both threads. I might not think of it if it sat there in my bookmarks folder.

I admit that I enter some competitions for things I'd sell on too. I also enter lots for things I want. But with a baby due any day and rubbish mat pay we need all the money we can get. End of the day, yes someone may want the thing I have won but I still put in the effort of entering them. Its not like they just fall in to my hands, I can sit on my laptop for hours a day entering them. Its nice to get something out of it once in a while
But out of everything I have won over the last...however long it has been since I joined, I have only sold two things so its not like I sell everything.

I think selling prizes is despicable and everyone who does should have their hands chopped off.

I wasn't going to add anything more to this, because most of my bug bears have been covered, but the Twitter block for rt'ing or posting too many tweets (which I'm currently suffering with for an hour).. Infuriating!!! :mad:Thank you, to all those who make the comps forum, what it is.0

The fact that less than 1% of the people on these forums can actually be bothered to add links to the regular comps boards!:mad::mad:Living with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0
