I wouldn't know what a bios chip looked like and a mother board would be a lot of work to install. Guess it's sell to a computer recycler just use the compaq.

Have you chosen to show hidden files to ensure that your drive is actually Bootable and that it contains all of the necessary files?

Certainly I would expect to see a BIN file at least...otherwise you could just drag the files over to a formatted drive in the first place.
So perhaps something wrong there.
Anyway, perhaps start all over again using these alternative instructions.

In the wincris window there is a tick box "compress BIN file", I have not ticked this. Maybe the BIN file is not created if this box is not ticked?
Though the new instructions from terror factor say there are only three files.

Again this talks about .fd file and using a FLASHIT file.main stream media is a propaganda machine for the establishment.0 -

Grrrrr.... I've told you. Forget about .fd. That is for a different model with an Insyde BIOS.
Don't choose to compress any files.
You may need to also select the option to show System files, in order to see the other files on the drive.
Otherwise, there is the option to make a Bootable drive manually.
But before you get to that, try the new method of Fn + Esc, plugging in the AC and then Power button...
If that doesn't work, repeat with the battery removed. Fn + Esc, plugging in the AC and then Power button... then release Fn + Esc0 -

Is the post on Fixya about corrupt bios on an acer 5535 a bogus posting?
Wincris creates three file, and three files only. None of the phlash files work to initiate any response from the bricked acer.
To replace the bios chip involves completely disassembling the laptop and soldering the old chip out and a new chip in. That is way beyond my ability.main stream media is a propaganda machine for the establishment.0 -
