Can anyone suggest any really good kitchen designers in the PO9 area? It's for a large-ish kitchen, budget in the £20K area.

Hi
Marion John from Advanced Kitchen Design, she is based in Nottingham so would charge you an additional amount for fuel. Marion is a fellow contributor to the site so may well see this thread.
I have just had one of Marion's customers order a kitchen from me!
Good luck

There is a company in Portsmouth, Southsea I think, that do furniture and kitchens. I've never used them, but a colleague's parents did, and said they were good. Make of that what you will. Clicky linky thingy:

They have another shop in Petersfield, which I visited. I concluded that for wood furniture, Oak Furniture Land was better, albeit they pay that annoying TV 'celebrity' chap to advertise them.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
Thank you, southcoastrgi, much appreciate your suggestions.
Howdens looked quite good, until I got to the worktops they offer. Disappointing choice according to their website, but I'll give them a call tomorrow to see whether they might have more than their website suggests.
Hampshire Kitchens looks the other end of 'affordable', and luckily they are at least an hour's drive away, so I hopefully won't be tempted to consider their gorgeous kitchens! Also, they seem to be associated with some big-name suppliers such as Alno, and I am not sure I want to pay for a brand name. Much rather would like just plain great quality, and the looks must come with quality....
There must be some independent kitchen designers who make a good living despite the big boys?0 -
By the way, should your signature not read "Give a man a fish and he can eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he will no longer have any desire to look for work, as he has found a better pastime, and he will forever claim benefit ..."

You don't have to buy everything from the same co. We got Benchmarx units but sourced our worktop (plus appliances, sink, taps etc.) elsewhere.0

Cheers Leif. Had a look at http://www.victorianasouthsea.co.uk/shop/ and realised I didn't say I was looking for a very contemporary style. Sorry, really should have said that.0

The good news is that "Dave" (god I hate it when they call him by that name - take note Samantha, 'Dave' just doesn't roll off the tongue!!!) announced today that there will be just absolutely no way to live of benefits and nothing else, at least not for the foreseeable future.0
