    no its a linksys wireless access point I tried to use a stick to copy the wireless info but my daughters pc wasn't having any of it.

    I was talking about netstumbler.

    Could you list exactly what equipment you have on both PC's, which router, which WAP, which adapters, and how it all connected before, and what changed. Was/Is any of it encrypted?

    WRT54G connects to main pc and Webstar modem (Virgin cable)
    WAP54G on daughters pc
    Wifes laptop just picks up wireless network with ssid I allocated.

    Is the WAP54G there because of range issues? Can't she connect direct to your router?

    Didn't want to run a cable upstairs. The wap was working prior to me resetting the router a week or so ago.

    So your daughters PC has a wireless card, which connects to the WAP wirelessly, which then talks to the router wirelessly, which is plugged into the cable modem? If so, why not cut the WAP out of the equation?

    correct apart from the wireless card hence the need for the wap.
