In fact the only ins co that said they auto renew was the RAC (broker). They then said all you need to do is call and it will be removed.
Both the other 2 make it clear when you speak to them of their policies.
So its upto you to do your own honework.
Why not name them?
Yes, the OP could phone round all the insurance companies and find the answers themselves, but it would be much easier for everyone if there was a, um lets call it a forum, where people can ask questions and others, where they know the answers, can answer them.0 -
Why on earth would you refuse to name companies that you are recommending? Are you just trying to wind me up?
I'm not recommending anyone. Nor wind you up. You seem to do that on your own...
Only that I know 3 companies I have used in the last couple of years do not set up a CPA.
As it happens I cannot remember who they are.
It seems to me that should someone disagree with what you are saying they are in the wrong...
So please come down off your high and mighty, high horse.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

Esure/Sheila's Wheels don't autorenew for home insurance, unless they've changed. Nice cash back too if you keep swapping between them and Free Home Emergency/Legal cover for your 'first' year.0

It would actually be really useful to compile a list and make it a sticky.
Could divide insurers into
1) Those who don't auto-renew
2) Those where you can opt in
3) Those where you can opt out
4) Those where you can cancel easily at time of taking the insurance
5) Those who make it difficult0 -

I personally would not recommend Esure. I took home insurance through them about two years ago, and it was only after I’d bought the policy that I realised that the only way to contact them is on a premium rate phone number (with a recorded message saying ‘phone calls will not be answered until they have dealt with all email enquiries) or via email, which they took several days to respond to (their service level agreement is within four hours). Obviously I should have checked about this beforehand but I’ll not be taking insurance from them again. They also didn’t enclose their complaints or cancellation procedures, despite the policy documents saying these were enclosed. I did eventually get a copy of their complaints procedure, although they didn’t keep to their service level agreement for this either.0
