I want to buy a tablet

Consider the Amazon's Kindle Fire too- has some good reviews, though the Nexus may be better.0

I think the witty/sarcastic comments were intended to make you think whether you did really need a tablet at all.
There are those who think that there is not much point in them.
If you want fewer facilities you get a smart phone and if you want more than a smart phone will do you would be better off buying a laptop/netbook.
Personally I have no opinion - I don't have one or a smart phone.
As regards the subject already recently discussed and not using the search facility.....
If the subject in question has been extensively talked about in the last few weeks or so, and then someone asks the question again, most of the often knowegeable contributors to the previous thread will not be bothered to start writing all their comments all over again.
There was one such on the Savings board about the dreaded Rapport security program. The thread went on for some 300+ replies with a variety of interesting contributions and views from both sides. A week or so later up pops exactly the same question - and no one was really interested in discussing it all over again. So the questioner went away with a just a handful of replies and was was presumably not much the wiser.0 -

Thanks you for your honest explanation. And the time taken to answer. I think I have the information I need now. :T
It is difficult to put a title into search when you dont know what your asking lol. However, I got there in the end. Most of the questions I found were based on what tablet to buy for their children. I do not know about android, apps and smartphones. A child would know more than me which is why I came here. I also looked a Which, but there is nothing better than hands on advice. So Thanks everyone.:TMaureen0 -
FWIW The Nexus 7 was named gadget of the Year at the T3 awards.

and also, fwiw http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2012/10/08/nexus-7-price-cut-imminent-with-32gb-release/
Nexus7 touted for storage update soon (and price reduction on existing 16gb, wouldn't bother with 8gb model myself).
I know its the same with all tech.. +1month & then +1month something new will come along and so you never buy anything.. but perhaps wise to wait a week and see what happens in this case. Ipad mini rumours also around for oct/nov (in time for xmas would be my bet).0 -
I had the Playbook and while i liked some of its features, it really is a 2010 tablet which didn't sell well - hence it's present firesale.
The Nexus 7 is better all round.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

Think I am going to go for the Nexus, but wait a while and see what happens to the price. Technology is a minefield when you don't know about it, so Thanks guy's.:jMaureen0

I'm on a nexus 7 right now. It is really good
However, it doesn't really do anything my Galaxy phone doesn't...it just has bigger screen which does make it better for kindle. Despite having the same phone as me, my OH got this for his birthday because, in his words, 'it is cool'. So probably because he's seen his tech geek friends in the office playing with theirs and is quite an impulsive wants what he sees and likes kind of guy
While it is good I would weigh the pros and cons of getting one. I probably wouldn't personally purchase one as I already have my Galaxy SIII for apps and my geeky fixes but if I didn't have a smart phone then I probably would. And the larger screen does make it more comfortable to use for longer periods of time and watching TV/reading. Hope this helps

Generally there's no contest the Nexus 7 inch is the best £ to benefit ratio out there. Your only decision is 16 or 8GB, - and that's a personal choice. The fact of the matter is the 8GB won't / can't come down in price because it was sold at the same price it cost to build it - that's also one good reason to buy the 8 and not the 16.
As to storage, unless you are on dial~up~dongle internet speeds most if not all of your megga sized 1080p video's can be stored in the clouds free of charge. The Nexus 7 Tablet is more than capable of 'streaming' excellent quality everything at full speed. So you really don't need the extra storage and extra cost.
If you actually sit around the same table at the same time with people who variously have .. .. Kindle's / Samsung's / Lenovo's .. .. they all admit each have individual shortcomings, but all agree the Nexus 7 is the best looking and best performing tablet for the money. Which of the shortcomings you as an individual can't live without is a 'lifestyle' issue - what I saw as my own Nexus 7 Tablet 'shortcoming' I already owned a MiFi so didn't need to bother with tethering.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I try to be an even-handed poster and accept that you at times may not agree with these opinions or how I choose to express them, this is not my problem. I bought a Playbook, as a handy always-on internet browser; it does that job fine.
If I had loads of spare dosh I would buy an iPad, as I've got lots of apps, an iPod, and my work phone is an iPhone.
I would possibly think about a Kindle Fire, but I've never seen one; I have a Kindle book reader which does its job just fine and is one of those "if I lost it I would buy the exact same thing again" possessions.0
