Cheapest Mobile Tethering

Hi I've use a tablet (not ipad) occasionally out and about and I've found so-called free wi-fi areas to be pretty unreliable. So I've been looking into mobile tethering. I have an orange pay as you go mobile which wont allow mobile tethering which is annoying as I get internet data usage which I never use up. So can anyone recommend another network which allows pay as you go mobile tethering? Or is there another way around this problem without signing up for a pay monthly contract? Thanks.

3 network's "The One Plan" with "all you can eat" data allows tethering.
I was using tethering for a month when I was without landline broadband and to be honest you will find it becomes annoying after a while. Nothing beat a proper broadband connection.0 -

"The One Plan" with "all you can eat" is not PAYG.
"Nothing beat a proper broadband connection" So have you now got a proper broadband connection?
You have not updated your TalkTalk Broadband load of rubbish thread. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

That's because there is nothing to update. I've been in touch with TT customer services via Twitter, they update me on their progress but everything is still the same.
Also my thread was related to poor download speeds and rubbish sync speed. General web browsing speed is fine.0 -
From the replies I am guessing that no one offers mobile tethering on PAYG. So my next idea is to try to find out if there is some sort of small gadget which turns into a wifi hotspot which I could take with me. Like a dongle I guess but I dont have a usb port on my tablet. Does anyone know if this sort of thing exists?0

What you describe is what the industry call "MiFi". I think 3 network do one.0 -
Three 'One Plan' tariff is available on a 30 day rolling contract which is fairly good considering its the only unlimited tethering option available.
I used to have a three mobile broadband mifi unit with a 15gb contract but have switched to the 'one plan'
My old costs were
Virgin mobile -£12 pm 1200mins unl' texts 1GB data
Three mifi broadband - £16pm 15 GB
Now have
Three one plan
£25 pm - 2000 mins 5000 3-3 mins 5000 texts
All you can eat data includes tethering.
I tether using my iPhone as a hotspot and its as fast as my as my mifi used to be.
Plus it's only 30 day contract0 -

I did ask virgin regards unlimited data plan and tethering but couldn't get a definite answer about it from them no body seemed to know if tethering was included and was unlimited. So I decided to go with the one plan on three plus it's only a 30 day plan0

Just been on UKHotdeals and apparently as of Monday 1st July the above 3 network one plan will be £18 a month instead of £25. Looks like I will have to speak to 3 customer services on Monday. :j0
