Thanks for nudging my page Maddiemay. Happy New Year. There isn't that many jobs advertised yet. I'm lucky where we live I can pretty much go to a lot of places. I've applied for around 60 jobs, but they are agency roles so probably only half are true jobs as some agencies will advertise the same jobs.
Does anyone remember my previous complaint to Asda over their maternity pads? Guess what they sent me today? Prior to my complaint they didn't have my address. A brochure for the baby and toddler event sale.....:(. Their incompetence is unbelievable.
I'm currently curled up on he sofa (with the laptop for jobs/email and now here), OH made me some lunch and he's now gone to bed (he's on nightshift, first night back after the holidays).CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. How is everyone? I posted my old laptop (non-working) today which I'd sold on ebay (money added to my £2014 challenge).
I also did a top up shop at coop in our village. The nearest 'big' supermarket is around 9 miles away so I didn't want to waste petrol. I bought bread, milk, eggs, sausages, pork pies, stuff for OH's lunches, 4 blueberry muffins, pack of custard donuts, orange squash and was horrified that it came to £15 (my weekly shop in Aldi is around £35 and that's for a trolley load!). Worst still the seal on the milk I bought hadn't been done right so I had milk leaking over the floor. I try if I'm not working to eek out the weekly shop and make it stretch further (trying to stretch the time between big shops to 10 days) and top up using the village shops. But I have to ask for those that can't always access the bigger shops how do they make their money go further? i.e. 6 eggs in coop £1.45, 15 eggs in Aldi £1.35. Its a huge difference. Now I was lucky getting the muffins and donuts reduced (35p and 55p) but the rest of the items were considerably more than elsewhere.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Hi unix
Just catching up on your diary. You've had a few :eek: moments over the last couple weeks, but hopefully things are on their way up.
I like your £2014 challenge - I may have to do something similar myself too!! Keep us posted!
Fingers crossed on the job huntWealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
Hi HAW, I'd read about the £2014 in 2014 through an email I got so I thought I'd give it a go. I'm including surveys (although having trouble finding cash ones apart from Yougov), anything I can ebay, or take to the cash for fabric places or change I find on the street. I'll see what other ways I can add to the total, ideally the cash will go to debt. Job hunt, I just want to get back to work as quickly as possible but I know a bit of time off will probably do me some good. My former work would like me back but need to get the project funded before they could take me back (still nice that they are thinking of me). As for my health? Getting there slowly.
HAW, I'll pop into your diary later.
Off to collect a new interview suit (bought using giftcard SS bought me for xmas) shortly and try and avoid the shops apart from the few bits (food) I couldn't get yesterday (suit wasn't supposed to be delivered to store till Friday).
......off to make a list of what I need!CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -
Well shopping was a success. I got enough stuff in Aldi to last me through till thur/fri next week. I got some nice savoy cabbage for 39p, that will go nicely with sausages and mash. I have mince out of the freezer so will make that for tonight. Got stuff for OH's lunches, store cupboard, dinners and for sat night I'm going to make Jamie Oliver's cheesey pasta (uses crème fraiche and all the leftover cheese from xmas). Trying to also see what else I have lurking in the cupboards (apart from shortbread from 2012). I'm terrible for having loads in the cupboards but both SS and OH aren't great at cooking from scratch.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. How is everyone today?
Today for me has been:
Dentist - check up, clean and polish (£11)
2 phonecalls about possible jobs, agencies wanting more info. One is permi the other temp.
Popped into see relatives (plural) after dentist, but they were all out.
£8 for OH e-cig refills (he won't get paid till next week). He'll pay me back next week plus money towards bills.
Lunch for me was baguette pizza (naughty I know), bought it in freezer shop on way home (it was what I fancied).
OH and I were supposed to be going swimming tomorrow but thats on hold till next week.
Got my hair done last night (OH did as well), my hair is still fighting me (hormones) so its gone white, but its at least all the one colour!!!!

OH is going to fix our shower today (its leaking through the ceiling), we bought about £20 worth of stuff to fix it just now. We can't afford to re-do the shower room (the tiles have failed so water is seeping through them) at the moment. So it'll have to be a patch job just now.
SS has had his drawing stuff out on the dining table again and even though he's been told tidy it away before you leave the dining room he's not bothered his shirt (I think this might be a backlash to OH's response to SS's cheeky comment "there's no decent food in this house only sh*t".... OH replied "we buy what we like not for you to moan as you barely pay enough dig money to cover the electric you use. Maybe its actually about time you moved out if you want to moan so much"), so I bundled all the stuff together and have dumped it in the corner of the room. OH has also drawn (on a blank page) with childish messages. I don't approve of that I would have rather he just take the stuff and dump it on the floor in his room. I can't see SS will take the hint about moving out as he know he's onto a good thing no matter how much he moans about it (i.e. how little he pays in dig money).
We went to see my Gran today, she gave me my birthday present (just in case we don't see her before my birthday). she's wrapped 2 small gifts and said she's put money in my card (love you Gran) as she thought that might be useful just now.

Yay for grans
:)
Hope you get the shower fixed asap
I sold 1 thing on ebay. For 99p. And underestimated postage by 60p. So after paypal fees I've made 9p. And I haven't had my ebay invoice yet... *sigh*Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0
