Hi All, I hope everyone had a good Christmas. We spent it with my family minus my Dad (long story). My Grandmother kept piling my plate with food to make sure I ate. My appetite is back. Trying to get an appointment for a check up and its a nightmare.

Job wise I didn't get the job I went for interview for. It seems (they admitted this) that they already had a temp doing the job who wanted to go permanent. So in effect everyone else was there to make up the numbers. Giving myself a couple of days off then I'll start applying again.

OH and I went and spent some Christmas money today in the sales. I got a lightweight coat I'd been after and some skincare and OH got some toiletries.

Money wise we're just trying to eat the food we have (my Grandmother gave us crackers, cheeses, pies etc) and SS hasn't been around since yesterday morning (although he still owes me his rent money for this month). Going to see friends tomorrow (I say friends but its a friend and her other half), not looking forward to it as when I told her what happened she wasn't the most tactful. She can be like that sometimes and I know it's not meant as personal it's just she's led a very different and sheltered life, her other half doesn't have that excuse and isn't very subtle with things. But my OH has said at least with us going to see them if it becomes too much we can leave.

I also in the sales picked up wrapping paper stuff and a diary, both under £1. Hoping next year is better for us, job wise and everything else

Hello All, how is everyone? Well my cc's are paid and the phone bill is paid. Without touching savings after paying the January bills I'll have £700 in reserve. I can use this for food and transport to any interviews (hopefully). I know I've said this before but now I need to have a proper clear out of clothes, as I can barely shut the drawers I have and the wardrobe is full (and I mean full). Do I wear it all? Probably not so time to work out what's getting worn, what's past it etc.

I blew up at OH today. We tried again to drop off presents to elderly relatives on my side. Now being retired they aren't always in, my great aunt doesn't keep well so is also in and out of hospital. So after getting no answer we walked back to the car and OH asks me if they're deliberately not answering the door due to my Dad's recent behaviour. Told him yeah right folk in their 80's are going to not answer the door, I didn't speak to him all the way to my Gran's. When he basically shoved me out the door of my Gran's I told him if he ever did that again he might as well be on his own. I refused to speak to him. He apologised quite quickly, told him I won't put up with his nonsense anymore and he has to stop this persecution complex. My Dad's behaviour has been all my life and is nothing personal to him. I need his support at the moment not him moaning and unless he sorts out his cheeky son he's out. I know he's hurting but so am I and the last thing I need is the violins out just because he wants attention. He's been very quiet and won't stop apologising.

Tomorrow I need to go to the sorting office to pick up a card the PO refused to deliver. It said insufficient postage and was posted 3 weeks ago, 9p short on postage.

Well OH is in the doghouse and he knows it. I took myself out to the shops and sorting office this afternoon on my own (nice to have a bit of time to myself). That's this week's food shopping done. Got stuff to make steak pie for new year and ingredients to make parma ham and artichoke pasta (recipe my Gran gave me). The cupboards are groaning with food. So hopefully now I can work on that and will only need to buy the fresh stuff for the next few weeks.

Well the house is tidied and OH starts jokily winding me up. Then he moans when I get upset. Nice, not. He's no asleep.... again. Fed up of him sleeping all the time. SS went to see his sister and decided to rub his Dad's face in it (OH and SD don't speak at all). SS is not going out for new year (which I find strange) as he said his friends are busy and one can't get a babysitter. In other words he's been excluded. I've overdone it with the cleaning and I'm sore. I have my feet up for just now and plan on making steak pie shortly (OH managed to turn off my slow cooker).

Thanks Lucielle. Happy New Year everyone. I hope 2014 is a better year for everyone.

OH did apologise last night, and made dinner tonight (sausages, mash with the leftover veg and gravy from last night, he also made me breakfast in bed) and tidied up. I've applied for a few jobs today and generally just put my feet up.

Already started on gifts for xmas 2014, Aldi's are selling off their Christmas candles in tins for 50p. So I bought 2 and put them away. Done every survey I can get a hold of today, I'm £20 away from a payout on yougov and £2 away on valued opinions. I might check out the up your income board see if there's anymore sites I can try. I have 2 items listed on ebay (stuff I need to get rid of) and downstairs is looking quite tidy but still a lot of clutter. So will slowly tackle that too.

Decided to try to raise £2014 in 2014 by surveys/ebay etc. Will post an update tomorrow. Trying to get past my post from 10/12 as each time I log on I see it so trying to get to a new page.

Are you finding many jobs to apply for ATM?
