If you want to look at it this way, you could say that there are many British people taking the jobs of people in their own countries. .
I was replying to your insinuation that a country needs the taxes of immigrants and I said that they would get the taxes from anyone who did that job; unless the person was in that country on a job shortages list and were needed by the country to fill that vacancy. Your reply to that (above) is another matter entirely.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

I think you're defining racist too narrowly - most people, for example, would think that Irish jokes are racist.0 -

Would they? Lots of people laugh at them - including Irish people.
In Spain, the jokes are about the Andalucians, and the Andalucians make jokes about the Portuguese.
French and Dutch people make jokes about Belgians.
Here's a joke from Australia:
How do you know when a flight from the UK has arrived in Sydney?

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

I tell pepole that I have RLS and have medication for it. I don't usually tell them it is a Parkinson's drug as well (although occasionally people know it is and then I explain that RLS is nothing to do with Parkinsons).
However, I do know of a few young women who are described as being 'on the pill for her periods'. I personally would not refer to it as a contraceptive under these circumstances, although I suppose it is, the same as Requip is used to treat Parkinsons as well as RLS. But I think it is important to be accurate about your medication and saying it the pill is a contraceptive in these circumstances is not, imho, accurate.
That's where we differ 7DW, I would just tell people I'm on a dopamine drug. Like I'm on an Anti depressant for pain. I'm on an NSAID. I'm on a beta blocker. So more generalised, rather than specific. Remember many girls who use the contraceptive for hormone therapy, will also go on to use it successfully as a contraceptive too. I did, my dd did, my dd will probably do so in the future I hope. So would you assume that a young under age girl would be taking the pill for her periods and assume that an of age girl is taking it as a contraceptive if they just came out with a statement like "I'm on the pill"
Heard that joke too, but replace Brit with English. We get all the jokes up here in Jockland too, don't bother me in the slightest, nor do the pat n mick ones bother my fella. My Bangladeshi friend sends jokes I would never dare put on a forum or I would be the racist one
MMP - We need the taxes of anyone who is able to work. Whether they be immigrants or Brits. I believe if we closed down some of the legal tax loops holes that many of the big companies have exposed the country may be better off.
And I agree that no one should be worse off working. I wasn't, although I believe there should be a bigger gap between working and not. But long term claimants also includes the sick too...Who determines the genuine sick, ATOS, who are making some serious errors.

Lots of people laugh at certain jokes - it doesn't mean they're not racist.
In Canada they have them about people from Newfoundland - they're called Newfie jokes.0 -

It is and isn't. Mumz2bee stated:this country DOES have too many immigrants that takes away jobs for British people.
My response to you is that it doesn't take away from British jobs any more than British take away jobs from nationals in their own country. Or are you saying Mumz2bee was implying that it is ok for British to take jobs from others in their own country, but not the other way around? If that's the case, call it what you want, racist, prejudiced, superior-minded, it's not a very nice state of mind.0 -

But you didn't say that originally.. In response to that quote for MUMZ2BEE you statedI think that would include the likes of me too but I bet you don't complain when we are on high tax band and put a lot more into the pot to support those on benefits than we take out.
I've quoted you in full. Have a look at your post number 590. That's what I replied to.
You only added about Brits working in other countries, in response to my answer to your post 590. As I said, that is a different matter to your insinutation that countries like immigrants' taxes; because as I pointed out; if that immigrant isn't in that country on a job shortages visa, then whoever did that job (and there are no shortages of people who can do it) would pay taxes.RENTING?
