Please help me with remote access to my pc

Closed, I've downloaded onto pc and just got message that server was ready for use and and amin process of downloading viewer.
It asks for VNC Server. What do I put? .....I get it now.

I don't like the email saying upgrade for better security features!!!!!

the ip address of the server machine 192.168.x.x

if you are behind a router, the security features like encryption aren't needed.

Will consider the other options if I find I ever need access from work or mobile.

there are other free variants around eg vnc navigator (a viewer), tinyvnc, ultravnc is you want slightly different features.

Now I'm being greedy. Can I access pc from my ipad if I ever wanted to with vnc? The other companies mentioned mobile/ipad access.

Teamviewer works on my iPad (assuming I have one ...doh the cat is out of the bag now :beer:)

Yes I've just seen that and it's free.

Well I have learnt a lot this evening.
Just need to get my head around internet/security issue and progress on that front.

But for now, with all your help I've already achieved what I initially set out to do which was within home. Thanks again all.
