Hi all - does anyone record sales phone conversations? Any easy ways to do it?
Seriously considering it after the problems with talktalk salesperson.
They promised that they'd match an online deal when I was ordering broadband over the phone, meaning half price broadband and unlimited downloads.
Neither of these actually happened... so I'd be very careful with talktalk customer services if anyone's dealing with them.
I had to ring up quite a few times - its been a horribly massive hassle.

Why not just order it online then? That way you know exactly what you are getting and what it will cost. You also get the benefit of any cashbacks available. No hassle at all.
However, with TT you can think of it as a kind of initiation course in the level of service you will be receiving once connected...No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I will do next time o.o
The soonest I could get an engineer online was in a months time so I rang up and ended up ordering there and then. Its been quite an initiation...0 -
But the lead time will be the same however you order, since it's the same company (BT OR ) who do the physical work required to provision a line or broadband service, regardless of provider.
One month is pretty much standard for a new line provision. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
7 week wait for a member of my family to get a phone line and broadband lol0

If you do record a phone conversation, or record any conversation, media communication etc., you are required by law to inform the other party that you are doing so.
Sounds petty? No, it means that the purpose of the recording is to have a copy that will have legal standing, in the event of a dispute. The fact that the other party was not made aware that the conversation was being recorded, will immediately destroy the legal credibility of the recording.
So, if you do this, begin the conversation with words such as "Please be aware that this telephone call is being recorded, dated and timed*."
* - Very important to date and time the call.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Surely you can simply say "Please note that this call may be recorded"? (That's what THEY always say).
And if you call them, and get their usual recorded announcement about "This call may be recorded" then surely there's nothing to stop you recording the call and making future use of it? After all, they don't say WHO may be recording the call.0 -
thought i would give you a different viewpoint is the recording talktalk make. TalkTalk, like most companies now record there their conversations for "training and quality purposes". if you have not received the product or service required, ask customer service to pull the recording of the call??? also, i often use the talktalk forums as that way things are in writing, and therefore there is no confusionTrinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0

They can just say they didn't record the call due to a glitch or some other lie.0

I've recently bought a small dictaphone. about the size of a mobile phone and intend to record any conversation which i think may be useful to have a record of.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
