  • Sorry about the rabbit :(

My sister had a gorgeous rabbit for years (white with grey ears). Scamper. We were absolutely gutted when it died. Was last thing you said cheerio to in the morning on the way to school, and first thing you said hi to in the afternoon when we got home! :)

And I agree with the balances. Your aim is ideally to reduce them, but if they stay the same that's still good. Just so long as they don't go up! :o

  • Hi headabovewater,

Thanks for the message, believe it or not my bunny Cupcake was all white with grey ears! She was such a cutey. I've paid to have her cremated and sent back to me so I will scatter the ashes in the garden as she loved racing around the garden! :p

  • I'm going off track! Help!!

The past few days all I have done is spend, spend, spend. I'm going backwards instead of fowards  I have to STOP! No more spending!! The things I have bought haven't even been things I have needed, just wanted (apart from an operation for my other bunny Cosmo, that was needed). I am so angry with myself.

So tomorrow we start a fresh. The bank card will stay in the purse and will not come out to purchase any items, no matter how much I want it/them.

I have petrol in my car and my dinners are sorted for work for the rest of the week so shouldn't need to spend anything now until Sunday when I do my weekly shop.

    To do list this week:
    - Take wardrobe I took apart to the tip
    - Clean out fish
    - Finish decorating room

To lighten up this angry post I have done some productive things today :j I had a massive clearout of my room yesterday, for some reason I had the urge to get rid of everything and have a nice empty room. So I took all of my teddies to the local charity shop (also received £5.00 Argos voucher for this); put my Furby on eBay along with a pair of expensive shoes I never wear and also started to decorate - 2/4 walls done!

Hopefully the week will now continue in this way, rather than in the spending way :o

  • Yay finally another NSD!! Today will be a spend day unfortunately as I need to do my weekly shop & also need to buy a coat with this extremely cold weather. But hopefully I will build up a few more NSDs before the month is out.

So far I haven't complete anything on my list :o I will take the wardrobe to the tip tomorrow and also clean the fish. I only have 2 more walls to decorate in my room, one to be painted and one to be papered. Will hopefully get the painted wall started today and finished tomorrow.

Whilst decorating I have found dust in places I never knew existed! So I will be doing a big clean before everything goes back in its place. I am disgusted with myself at how dirty it is  Dirty Candy!

Hopefully by doing the above will mean Sunday will be a NSD, along with Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday! (Well that's the plan anyway).

I have a couple of items on eBay ending on Tuesday, hoping to make a bit of profit there and also get rid of some clutter :)

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

  • I really don't know what to do. I feel like I have hit a brick wall with my debts and I feel like they just aren't going down quick enough :(

I have done another snowball putting mine and my partners debts together. By combining the debts and both working away at one debt at a time brings our debt free date foward by a month. It will also mean we can clear a few of the smaller debts quicker but I just don't know if this is the right thing to do. We are both extremely stressed over our debts and want to get them cleared as soon as possible.

Any advice would be great. Should I just keep working at my own debts on my own, or should we combine our debts and work at them together. By combining the debts we will have cleared 3 by March!

    Please help! :o

Don't be too hard on yourself Candy. It's so easy to get impatient trying to pay off the debts. You have made a fantastic start and I'm sure you will get back on track soon.

  • Thanks parsniphead

I just feel as if I'm not doing all I can. I feel like a maybe need to give all my money to someone else to control, maybe someone like my Mum as she is amazing with money. I want to see my balances going down. I think I am still wasting money on little things which I don't need and could be going towards debts.

I'm just having an off day I suppose :(

  • CC,

It is only normal to have an occasional off day. You have done really well so far and it is only a matter of time before you get to your goal.

Are you keeping a spending diary? And is there something that you tend to spend money on regularly like coffee? If so, us the demotivator to see how much it is costing you.

With respect to combining your debts, its a personal choice. There are a lot of people on here who are against it but then again a lot of them will say its not a bad thing. I guess it all depends on how strong your relationship is and more importantly how far along both of you are in terms of your LBMs! Also, are you going to end up in a situation where one person starts resenting the other because they don't feel that the other person is pulling their weight? All these things only you can decide.

Good luck in your journey and hanging in there.

  • Hi ID and thanks for your comments :) That's what I love about this site, I can have my rants and down days and have you lovely people here for support. It's amazing.

I know my downfall for spending is eating out/take aways. Me and my partner are awful for it, and we know it. I think we are just both just too lazy to come up with meal ideas and then actually make the meals.

We had a little talk this morning about combining our debts and he is really up for it. We worked out that with us both being really frugal and throwing everything we can at one debt, including our bonuses, overtime & our pay increases as of November & March we should be able to clear all of our debts by October 2013! This is not long away at all, and it could be cleared sooner we have just done rough calculations. We both just need to be really good for the next 12 months, then we can enjoy our money however we like as it will be ours and we won't owe it to anyone!

Seems worth it my eyes, I just hope he sticks to it with me.

We are going to try as soon as possible, however bearing in mind Christmas is around the corner I need to ensure all Christmas presents are bought before I lose the money to a debt. Hoping to have all the Christmas presents bought next payday though :)

  • So from my list I have done 2/3 things. I've taken the wardrobe to the tip, so that's no longer cluttering the front garden, I've also cleaned out the fish tank, happy fish. I have started item number 3 by doing the 1st coat on the painted wall. I'm off work on Tuesday so I will hopefully do the second coat then!

Today unfortunately hasn't been a NSD... I bought a pair of shoes! Naughty Candy! I know I shouldn't have but they were really nice and I rarely by things like this for myself.

I think going forward I'm going to allow myself one treat a month, whether it be an item of clothing or a meal out. Hopefully I will enjoy my debt free journey more by doing this :) we will see!
