broke down in asda

We have been sent a letter from town and city parking for parking in asda for longer than the allowed 2 hrs. The letter states we need to pay £40 within 14 days.
The reason we were in asda for longer than 2 hrs is the car broke down. The picture on their letter showing our car exiting shows it on a TOW TRUCK.
Should we appeal? we notified asda security too as they had to stop traffic when the tow truck towed us out.

Should you appeal?
Nope.
Should you pay?
Nope.
Is it just a scam?
Yep.
Third thread from the top, click on 'PPC letter chains'.
1. Watch the Watchdog clip on there, and then
2. scroll down to the pics of your fave PPC's threatograms, then
3. Play a nice game of snap with each matching templated threatogram.
No private parking company (PPC) can actually issue a real fine or penalty on private land, retail car parks etc. Nor can they affect your credit rating nor send a bailiff round without the small matter of winning a Small Claim in Court first! And that won't happen.
The most that will happen is more junk mail letters that you can ignore, over the coming months (the fake piece of paper impersonating a parking ticket was the first link in the chain of this con). The registered keeper gets the letters, so if that's not you then educate them about this well-known scam and show them the links & info we are giving you here.
Please read the current forum and also show your family and friends so they also learn about this scam. You will also see other Asda threads and info about a new appeals procedure called POPLA which you can use if you want to fight back and cost the scammers £32 plus. You will also see that if you are up for it, we are encouraging people to use this process with our help, then just ignore the outcome if not in your favour (no risk or cost to you, no Court, nothing, just a postal process to expose the scam and cost the PPC money every time).
In your case, the picture of your car exiting on a tow truck just shows this for the scam it always is and I would LOVE you to show POPLA independent appeals service this! We want the shenanigans of PPCs to be put under scrutiny and your case is a classic one.
If you'd rather just play snap with the letters that is OK as well.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

If you're into recycling you could use this as wrapping paper for a present, saves 50p, very mse.

So they have your vehicle on the back of a tow truck, and the car park I presume is free to park in, this will never go to court ever, you can't help you broke down so any judge would immediately throw this out before even going into a small claim. Not that it will go there.
Perhaps going back to asda with a copy of your threatogram with the picture showing your vehicle on the back of a tow truck would help you get some personal satisfaction for this completely ridiculous situation, or maybe a complaint to asda head office with your letter as an attachment ?Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
If this isn't worth a letter to the CEO of ASDA, I don't know what is. Don't forget to tell him you won't be shopping there ever again.
One day, he might start to take some notice of the way TCP treat his customers.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
In these circumstances I would complain to Asda.
Send a letter with a copy of the photograph and tell them you have no intention of paying and that they might like to consider whether the agencies they are paying reflect well or badly on Asda.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

It just shows that the idiots that work at TCP's head office are just programmed to send out these stupid letters without actually sitting down and thinking about individual situations such as this one. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

When I first read the title of the tread I thought perhaps you were having some sort of mid life crisis!!
I agree with others and would be complaining directly to Asda HO saying it has put you off from shopping there.0 -
Don't forget that the computer sends the letter, the admin staff just press a button to print the q of letters.
They have probably not even seen the images, yes they are supposed to check, but I know for a fact that many do not.0 -
Good grief. Make sure Andy Clarke (Asda CEO) gets a complaint about this, including the picture of the car on a truck. If that doesn't make the arrogant w****r take notice then nothing will.
P.S. love your nickname!Je suis Charlie.0 -

Arrogant?
You had a run in with him?
From my experience that's a bit of a harsh call.0
