I ended up buying a few large baby bundles on ebay as well. One lots with over 100 items worked out at 25p each.... I keep the things that I like and give the rest to my local charity shops. I was given a lot of baby stuff for Xmas and my birthday... but the clothing is sooooooooooooooo cute :D
Trying to earn £2015 in 2015. Slightly early start ;). £175.88 today.

Hi I am a student midwife.

Bring honey to melt in hot water great for boosting energy and aid with contractions when you don't feel like eating and need the energy boost.

What clothing would people recommend to take both for labour and the post-labour stay? The only info I've found suggests 4 front opening nighties but I don't really want to spend loads of money. I think people have mentioned cheap nighties for labour/giving birth but I'm guessing they're not very practical for afterwards if you are breastfeeding. I also don't really want to wear night clothes in the day but I don't know what is likely to be practical/comfortable.

definately just spend a £1 on a primark nighty to give birth in then you can just bin it!
tracksuit bottoms for during the day i found were comfy and dont forget to take big knickers just incase you have a c-section (little knickers can dig into the scar) otherwise the hospital may give you netty knickers :D which are actually comfortable but sooo not nice to look at lol
It only seems kinky the first time.. :A

    Hi All,
I'm just packing hospital and labour bags ready for the grand arrival of my first baby and thought I'd ask for any helpful advice of those with experience!! Think I've covered most of the obvious items but would be interested to hear of suggestions you might have!
    Thanks

Hiya, i am 36 weeks pregnant and have my bags packed ready to go! Here is the list I worked from. It was put together by a bunch of mums on my birth club forum. Its worthwhile checking what your hospital will provide before you pack you bag (cotton wool, nappies, milk, blankets) to save space.

Most peole seemed to be packing 2 or 3 seperate bags - one for labour, ward, and baby. I have 2 bags. One for me (labour stuff on top, ward stuff underneath -in a small holdall) and one for baby (his changing bag)

Here is the link to the list

    http://boards.babycentre.co.uk/n/pfx/forum.aspx?tsn=1&nav=display&webtag=bcUKbclub200706&tid=3776

Hope that helps - and you dont end up with a massive suitcase!

I'd say disposable paper knickers (if Mothercare still sells them). I agree they are not a pretty sight but you wont be flashing them (I wouldnt have thought!). I also took some bath cleaner to clean the bath BEFORE I got in - this was very useful.

I would recommend using one of the lists you seem to get in all of the baby magazines etc to make sure you don't forget the basics. It is easy to get carried away though - you may only be in hospital for less than 24 hours!

The other girls and I at ante-natal classes spent ages discussing what we should take with us ... and ages laughing afterwards at how naive we were!! Make up bag so we looked nice on the photos afterwards (yeah right!!), luxury shower gel for a bit of pampering afterwards (because of course a hospital bathroom is very luxurious!!), and the list goes on ...:rotfl:
