hi...i recommend the samsung galaxy tab 10.1 which you can enjoy new interactive games from Game Hub, e-books from Readers Hub or listen to great music from Music Hub.

For £100? Thats a bargain. Where can we get this deal?

Playbook is only £109. Easy enough to install the Kindle App.

I got the 16Gb Nexus 7 for £160 today from HMV. This price because it was a demo and the only one in the store, but it's as new.

So far, it's a lot better than my Playbook, the screen, for one thing.

The Nexus 7 has USBOTG if I need it.

And it's so much better than the PB it's not funny.

  • Not for storing trillions of kids pictures and movies it's not.

Who wants lots of storage on a tablet?

I know I don't with so many cloud-based services. In any case I can put quite a few films on the Nexus and delete them when I'm done. 16Gb is more than enough.

Of course, all my music, movies and pictures are stored at home, also.

tbf I live in an area where we have little or no 3g coverage so rely soley on home wifi - which really puts cloud storage out of reach (and the nexus7 is wifi only)
there are definitely some people (like me) that would prefer the option for more hardware storage

I agree... in principle (I've GOT an Aurora 2!) but I.T. advice is like wet fish: - it has a VERY short shelf life before it goes off! I wish I'd waited a few more weeks and bought Ainol's "Novo7 Flame", which has TWO cameras and a slightly better spec' generally.

In this specific case, the questioner is asking about a tablet as a replacement for an eBook reader.... from which I infer that she might NOT want to play the latest games, and one of Ainol's other tablets would do just as well for an ebook platform - their latest model (featuring Android "Jellybean") is the Crystal, and it's slightly cheaper, at around £70. Or their "Budget" tablet, the "Tornedos".

Note that NONE of these are stocked by Argos - but there are a plethora of Chinese retailers who'll be happy to supply you with a 7" tablet at an attractive price. I've personal (positive) experience of Merimobiles.com and DealExtreme.com or you could even buy direct from the company at Ainolstore.com. Note that ALL of the above offer "free delivery" and that "Free delivery" can take several WEEKS to reach you.

Those who scoff at the idea of "a tablet under £100" clearly don't know what they're talking about. If you DO know what to look for (and you're willing to accept slow delivery) then a "better than OK" tablet can be bought for under £40... direct from the Chinese manufacturer. It amazes me that one doesn't see Chinese tablets EVERYWHERE; trains and busses filled with commuters using them... People, for some reason, seem to be petrified of buying direct from China.
