I have been going to SW Scotland for over forty years sheils6 - with parents, grandparents, on my own, with partners and with my family - and I remember and treasure every minute of every visit...
There is something about the people, the places and the attitude that is difficult to explain unless you have been there..and that is why we come back ... although there isn't 'much to do' there is so much to enjoy and it is an opportunity to refocus on the things that really matter - family, friends and many acres of sky!!

edit to add - and I forgot to mention the sweetshops and Moffat Toffee!!!

Glad you enjoy it here! My DH always holidayed in Scotland before he moved here and would never leave now. (He is from near Liverpool although he lived near Chester for a while)
I stab my jacket spuds too - it speeds them up I think.

Thanks for that FF and thanks for the wine too. :A Never used Clubcard points for this before but would soon work it out Use different points for so many things these days! Really must try to get up todate with the comps but not tonight as my eyes won't keep open. See you tomorrow. x

I hate being served microwaved jacket spuds in a cafe etc.

I like the places that have the special baked potato ovens.


I have mashed the potato with egg (and cheese) and baked for a bit longer in the past.

Thanksfor the heads-up on the points compo.They don't always add winning points in a timely/trouble-free manner though!

I too pierce the spuds with a fork gojoroan, I think it stops them from exploding too in microwave! I've never tried putting butter on it before putting in microwave but I have tried like fire**fly has her spuds, mixing the potato with cheese then baking again they do this in turkey too! You can't beat an oven baked spud though

I've had a lazy night tonight watching the box!
