yeah, if you're cheeky enough the Toby carvery could feed quite a few people for the price of one...buy one carvery and one glass of Pepsi, when finished pass the plate and glass to the next person to get refills and seconds :rotfl: may only work a few times before they ban you, also helsp if the other people in the group are veggies as you only get one lot of meat :mad:0

Oh and I do know the Hillingdon Prince, thank you, I didnt know anything about it though but I drive past it a lot.
I stayed there for a night a couple of months ago. Got friends who live on that road.
Like a little bedsit, it was. Kettle, microwave, etc, comfy bed, clean enough... would do you for a while, and I bet they'd set up some sort of account (there were account deals on their website) and you could possibly even pay at the end, who knows...
Looking forward to reading the blog! Glad you're managing to deal with it as some sort of adventure (and something to look back on and even tell the grandkids about!). Some would be pulling their hair out!

Well, it begins......... one week left to pack and prepare. Packing to live in transient stae for 40 nights is an art in iteself!
We have found and booked astorage unit, got a deal on £1 for the first month with a company called Storage King in Woodley, Berkshire. I had trawled a few storage companies, but these guys were the cheapest and the most helpful and polite ( great combination). Yesterday saw the first boxes entering the unit. And I started my blog. In fact I have reopened a long dead blog I started ages ago and have begun to use it again.
I have 4 rooms still to book, but at the moment I am coming in on budget.

Have you looked at airbnb? You can find everything from a small room to a large flat depending on how much you want to spend. You might also be able to do a deal with the owner for a longer stay. I used it abroad and it worked out very successfully.0

I had a look, and yes it had some nice places but I always found cheaper on the deals. My DS always uses this when abroad and especially in USA has had really good stays

When I was working away I used to find a lot of cheap decent B+B's on https://www.smoothhound.co.uk this time of year, they're often glad of a long booking, so will do you a nice price.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

So, this weekend we spent two nights at a holiday inn, on a 2 for the price of 1 deal gained through RAC, although I think you can get this deal with other means too. We had breakfast one day as we'd spent 15 hours moving our stuff out of our home the day previous and were shattered beyond belief, so a long lazy breakfast was just what we needed. That cost £9.50 each. The wi fi in the room was not free - it was £5 for an hour. I skipped this and used my DB internet when cadging lunch.
Foodwise - brekfast yesterday paid for, today we ate the rest of the croissants, pain au chocolate and pain au raisin saved from breakfast yesterday. We had lunch with family and tea with a friend.
First error we made was bringing FAR too much stuff with us. We spent a good hour resorting what we need and a large case will be joining the rest of our goods in storage.
Second error we made was assuming we'd remember where we packed things. A few hunts for glasses, a letter we needed, a tape measure etc also made the repacking and resorting essential.

wow £9.50 for breakfast and £5 for wifi  that explains the cheap rooms I suppose.0
