I have never, ever felt like this, but I just want to go somewhere WARM. Where there is nothing to do but dh:D and swim. I don't want to see anything. I think we'll only be able to manage four, maybe five days, ( dh is all busy again, this week, three countries). He is a beach holiday guy and is very excited I might want to go and just 'be' somewhere in the warmth...it's very not me!0 -

Yep, so are we normally, and this is sort of tempting, but then.....I think maybe we could do with a change of scene and getting away from the critters and clients.
(Last week I told everyone that I was only taking urgent calls. I had NINETEEN calls, plus my non resident parent calling up to hourly (of course I did not take those calls) and resident parent got a earful at for knocking on my door several times over the course when I said I was 'unavailable'. I just want peace.
Seriously, someone else is in my body saying these things..... it's not like me at all.0 -

Maybe we should just use the holiday money for a hot tub to upgrade from the paddling pool or old slurry pond.
I am SURE we are going to have a FABULOUS summer this year, so you would have plenty of opportunity to lounge around in your hot tub whilst wearing your bargain swimming cossie.
Although at the moment, Spring feels like quite a long way off0 -

Are there no other connections from the Eurostar (south of France or something?). That is said without having looked up temps in the south of France, train connections/ journey lengths, or anything actually. Just thinking that avoiding flying sounds preferable.0 -

I hope so....
I noticed to day the first plum blossom, it's too early with these cold night time temps. No
Plums last year, and if the rest of the ruddy blossom opens now there will be paltry crops this year too.0 -

Yes, since viva suggested it a while ago I have been really excited seeing the places I could go, but it all takes time. If it were a clear week away it would be the total answer. I don't really mind the spinal tap now, I just need something that's about dh and me and warm and peaceful and private,
You know, if il find something I'll probably get there, feel back to myself and be bored and want to come home or go and do something:rotfl:0 -

Try the less posh places then, if the more distant ones are not close enough in. Tbh, as you guys get to be with each other every night, it seems worth maximising that, so you can reasonably be home for kids baths in the future and stuff. Then the nice restaurants will be less accessible anyway, so you might as well be closer
If it wasn't for the gang problems I'd be happy to live quite far into the city. Living in SW8 there were four MPs living on our road and you'd see famous faces in the pub. I could walk to uni in 70 minutes and get into Central London in 40-50 minutes if the mood took me.
The countryside hasn't any magic for me When I've lived on the edge of London I loathed it. They rolled up the pavements at night and there was nothing to do. I just don't know what's the attraction of moving away from the facilities and convenience of a busy place where tehre's everything you need. PN's descriptionof living way out west confirmed all my prejudices about living too far away from everythng.
Richmond seems great though- it really had a pulse and I always remember it as a great place. When I lived in Putney I headed out there all the time. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

There is a tree which is trying really hard to blossom outside the front of where I live. Not very good at tree identification - but pretty sure it is either plum or cherry (something in that family anyway). I hope it doesn't all get ruined by the cold.
I could really do with some sunshine, I feel very pale after the past few years of being imprisoned indoors/ pathetic summers.0 -
