Dh is having a meal with his dad and 'step mother' this evening...they are passing through. According to texts step mother has managed to offend everyone already. Dh says for the first time his dad actually looked a bit embarrassed.0

My MIL has to go everywhere twice. The second time to apologise for the first time.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
The whole scrap thing is quite interesting. I used a couple of the websites to get quotes and they were MUCH higher for the punto than anything I got offered when I rang round. Your car is bigger (so more steel in it), and so it should be worth more.
Is it car 1 that is now a broken wreck in the driveway? Or car 2?
I am afraid that I take a Stalinesque view about this:
2 fewer Fiats in the world means 2 fewer problems.
Car 1 is the broken wreck which is unfortunate as it was the one that was probably worth something as only 4 years old. Which websites quote for scrap values? Car 2 just needs a new clutch which is not that unusual for a 12 year old car and would probably be 250 quid. However it is car 1 we want back on the road as car 2 drinks petrol.
WE currently have a 62 astra hire car and it is a piece of sh*te, tiny inside and about as much all round visibility as a tankDW hates it, I'm luckily not insured as even trying to turn it for her in a tight carpark nearly resulted in hitting a railing. I am thinking of hiring for a week (something else) but it costs 140 quid in St Albans where it is convenient and £90 5 miles away in Welwyn which of course isn't when you don't have a car.
I think....0 -

Mil would, aiui, only show regret you were not worthy of her insight.
Anyway, dh home in bed now, feeling frustrated his visit with his father was so ...frustrating. However he was as bad really, once he realised she was there and on form he played a game of step mother bingo. I believe today's topics included gun law, which he really enjoyed.
Urgh. Tbf I am sure his dad feels the same about me0 -

This is the other site that might be helpful!
from the first:
"TV-replay.co.uk is the first online catch-up tv guide in the UK. It makes the search for free and legal online TV programmes easy. TV-replay.co.uk does not broadcast TV programmes videos but directs users towards the channels websites. Are you looking for a specific tv programme ? TV-replay.co.uk will help you find it. Do you want to discover new TV programmes ? Browse the site and find the TV programme you're looking for : series on demand, programmes, documentaries, TV news, sport, kids. We reference all the TV programmes available on demand for every channel owning a catch-up TV service on their website."
So its just a helpful search engine for TV channel's websites.

Not for most channels.
These are the two I tried to get you to watch TV with while you were abroad but the other country must have blocked them (or m,aybe the websites would). We lost cable TV on Saturday for a while but this website came good for us;).There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
I am well aware that others added going through terrible times, and that in the grand scheme of things my problem is trivial, and easily solved. Very well aware.
Sending it to misskool is a great idea. Also, if you specifically want somebody to give you a kick to get started, then you could always post on here, "By the end of Wednesday evening I will have finished the diagram for figure 2", and we'll ask you on Thursday morning if you actually did it, etc. Would that be motivating for you, or merely pressurising and demoralising?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Actually, a good reason employers like those who have finished PhD's is the sheer grit and determination it requires. You are certainly a different person when you come out of the process.0
