The holiday ended with a bit of a whimper really. We did the 6 hours/550km in one hit pretty much. We stopped once for food and once for fuel.

So all up we did about 2,300km in 5 days. The kids watched 12 different movies on the go and a couple at our friends' house.

We spent about $300 on fuel and I had 15 coffees and 2 teas whilst driving to keep my going and a bag of lollies. And my back now feels like it's made of broken terracotta tiles.

I had my haircut this weekend. It had got messy, & if I hadn't this weekend, i'd have really struggled timewise, as getting time off work in the next 12 weeks is impossible. Plus only had one day off since christmas.

Bowls season starts next week. Found out last week I was runner up in the league averages & won £20! Finally, it starts to pay off!

Dragged myself into the garden finally. Turned all the soil, & cleared the patio area. Will bag up the rubbish in the week. Need to order replacement greenhouse covers this week. Will buy compost next weekend & start planting seeds.

I.m another who hasn't got wardrobe doors. Just a rail for me. On a related theme, whilst I still haven't bought any new clothes since my vow, I've seen a really cool sweatshirt that I think will will break my resolve...

Nikkster, lir's 'suck it up' post said it all for me. Seems almost like you're overthinking it a bit, which could lead you to percieving barriers not really there. Take the opportunity, before it is taken from you.

On the bereavement theme, it's so difficult. My nan pretty much never recovered from losing my grandad. Although she outlived him by about 8 years, she was never happy again, & missed him every day. Grief is so personal, that anyone going through it can never feel anyone else understands their emotions. And it can be so difficult to get out of, because of personal feelings of guilt or similar.

After over 3 years of failing, if I was able to just suck it up, I would have. In general I can just get on with things, apparently not this. I have tried pretty much everything... Locking myself away, stopping doing anything else, bribing myself. Everything is planned out in pretty good detail, so I can see it its lots of little sections. If I am frustrating to read about, just imagine what it its like being it!
Yes, I am overthinking, have a tenancy to anyway, but the hundreds of hours I have spent at the computer trying to write this bloody thing have given me ample time to think things through. As it is, I have a define deadline, which I am looking at with open eyes. As much as definitely deciding to stop would of course be a firmer course of action, if I just don't make it I am fine with that. I also don't talk about this all day every day in real life... Promise!

I am well aware that others added going through terrible times, and that in the grand scheme of things my problem is trivial, and easily solved. Very well aware.

Hang on a sec Nikkster, Your issue is NOT trivial, and no one is suggesting its easy. Just that it IS possible once you see wood for trees, however unlikely that seems from where you are right now.

How could something which you dedicated YEArS on education and thought and effort to be considered trivial to those who care about you? Just be cause we say 'suck it up' and do it, doesn't mean we think its trivial!!

Also please consider that while you have tried for three years you have been through some big, emotionally challenging changes in that time, which are bound to impact on motivation in that time.

Instead of starting tonight, could you put on paper a tick list of what needs to be done? Something to check of as each smaller set section is completed in first draft?

You won't get a better or fairer offer... Let someone objectively take a look?

 Car No 1 has been off the road for 10 days with gear/clutch problem whilst mechanic has had key (so we can't go elsewhere) but has not got round to looking at it. So of course today car no 2 has sufffered clutch failure leaving us with no car and lots of kid related activities requiring a car. DW is now walking in rain to nearest car hire place to get car to collect kids at 3.30
    I think....

I am starting to prep for the clocks changing now. I am sure that fried my brain helping to lead to all the problems last year.

Michaels, my sympathy about the cars. Both our cars are having issues too. Mine is leaking coolant but my mechanic is away for two weeks, so he is going to have a quick look to see if its anything obvious tomorrow. Parents car has a noisy gearbox, but it went to garage to day and was fine when it got there. The garage say they think its because its been so cold. Huh? Is all I can say to that. Colder places have cars, and its been cold but not THAT bad.
